TRAVELERS CHAMPIONSHIP

June 27, 2021

Abraham Ancer

Cromwell, Connecticut, USA

TPC River Highlands

Quick Quotes

Q. How would you assess your round out there today?

ABRAHAM ANCER: It was a little up and down on the front nine, birdies and bogeys. After that I settled in and played really nicely from 9 on. Made some good birdies.

It was playing tough, a lot wind out there. But still, this golf course, if you hit it right where you're supposed to you'll get some chances.

I made a nice run there on the back nine. I wanted to have at least one or two more coming in, but unfortunately didn't happen.

Yeah, hit the shots that I wanted to hit. It's just tricky out here.

Q. After 72 the first day, what you imagine you would end up 11-under par?

ABRAHAM ANCER: Not how I felt physically at the time, but then I woke up on Friday and I felt a lot better. I'm dealing with a little bit of like stiffness on my lower back, and the boys here got me going, the PTs here on the PGA TOUR.

They did a great job. Felt fine from Friday on. I just told myself it was game on and I would like to battle back and claw myself from whatever it is, 120th to the Top 10 or Top 15.

Q. I know you're playing in the Olympics. Did you ever consider not?

ABRAHAM ANCER: No. I always told myself and everybody that that's one of my dreams to play and represent my country in the Olympics. It's going to be a little bit unfortunate this year with all the rules and not being able to go watch any other sports. It's really a bummer. I was really looking forward to that.

Still playing for a medal, which is really cool. We'll see what happens. I'm looking forward to it either way.

Q. Were you surprised how many guys decided not to?

ABRAHAM ANCER: Yes and no. It's obviously tough schedule-wise where it is. People are trying to qualify for the Ryder Cup or fighting for your card on TOUR and it's towards the end of the season, so I could see how it can happen.

It's a tough decision. Sometimes you just got to make a decision. For me it was pretty easy.
