2021 COLLEGE WORLD SERIES

June 25, 2021

Parker Noland

Omaha, Nebraska, USA

Vanderbilt Commodores

Postgame Press Conference

Vanderbilt - 3, NC State - 1

Q. Parker, what kind of scouting report did you guys have on the two guys you faced today?

PARKER NOLAND: To be honest, we really didn't have much. Because of the COVID situation, we were preparing for someone different. But we knew if we just stuck to our plan we'd be okay.

Q. Mentally, what was it like for you guys having to sit through that long delay, knowing that it wasn't your team that was involved and just waiting around before you were even able to play?

PARKER NOLAND: It was a little tough. We had to stay focused for sure. Also, the main thing was staying loose as a team. We do a really good job of that. It was kind of just fun hanging out with the boys in the locker room.

Q. I guess since postseason started, especially in Omaha, it seems like it's been a little bit of a struggle sometimes at the plate. What do you think maybe have been the difficulties for you guys recently?

PARKER NOLAND: Just kind of getting off our pitches, really. We need a better plan, and we'll play better offense going forward. We'll be connected and do a better job.

Q. You alluded to it a little bit. Could you take us through the process of the confusion and trying to stay focused when everything was happening before the game started, because it's really not like anything that we've seen so far this year in a year of weird things?

PARKER NOLAND: We were about to go out to the field, about to get ready. I think Rock was actually warming up at the time. And they told us to go back in the locker room and show up for a little bit, that NC State was going to get some COVID testing done. For us that meant we had more downtime to relax and get our minds right for the game.

Q. What did Corb say after the game as far as resetting going again tomorrow when tomorrow, there could be different people on the roster; we don't know yet?

PARKER NOLAND: He kind of told us we knew that was going to be a tough game just because of the situation and -- the situation that happened before the game and that we had our backs to the wall. And we knew it was going to be tough. And we were just excited looking forward.
