Quick Quotes

Q. Charley, a really, really good round. It kind of looked like you were making it easy. I know it's never easy, but what are your thoughts after that great first round?

CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, I played pretty solid. I feel like I'm in a good head space at the minute, just out there having fun. I could have been lower, but then I holed some good putts, as well. It was good.

Q. What makes a good head space for you?

CHARLEY HULL: I'm going home Monday, so I can't wait to see my friends and family. But just out there enjoying it. I've been suffering a little bit with like being out there, being away from my family for so long sometimes, so I'm just out there trying to enjoy it as much as I can.

Q. You've been bouncing around. I know you don't keep a permanent place here in the States, so bouncing around back and forth, made it even tougher with the pandemic. Where have you been the last few weeks and how are you getting that time at home?

CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, I've been away the last four weeks, and before that I was home for three weeks and then I was away from home for seven weeks. There have been two long stints I've been away for. But you just FaceTime your friends and family. I'm such a home girl; I miss my mum and I miss my dad and I miss my nephews and that. So just FaceTime them and keep positive on the golf course, as well.

Q. It worked for you out there today. You had a bunch of birdies, both front nine and back nine. Any of those memorable?

CHARLEY HULL: I can't actually remember much of my round today. I just felt quite focused. I wasn't even sure of my score until I looked at a leaderboard. The key one for me was probably my par save on the last. I pushed my tee shot right with my 3-wood, and I've been struggling a lot with my bunkers this year. I actually hit quite a good iron bunker shot into the green, it was just a little bit too flat, it was a bit like a launch pad so it flew, and then I was on a downslope on a short-sided pin and I got up-and-down I was quite happy with that.

Q. You were playing with a good group, Jessica also playing well, so that's three fun people. Does that help on a day?

CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, definitely. They're both really nice girls. I really get on with Jess. It's just nice to be out there and relaxed. That's what I like.

Q. Good round today; what do you take away to the second round tomorrow?

CHARLEY HULL: Just positive vibes, not really thinking about too much to be fair. Just going out there and enjoying it. If I hit a bad shot, I hit a bad shot. If I hit a good shot, that's good.
