Quick Quotes

Q. Austin Ernst, 1-over par today, first round. Got to be somewhat satisfied with that.

AUSTIN ERNST: 1-under.

Q. 1-under, I'm sorry. More satisfied.

AUSTIN ERNST: It was a solid day. Didn't quite hit it that great, but I putted it really well. Still could have made a couple more birdies, but just pleased to get it in under par.

Q. And birdies on 2 and 14, a couple of the tougher holes on the golf course.

AUSTIN ERNST: Yeah, 14, I hit a really good shot in there. I hit it about three feet. 2, I kind of hit it in the middle back part of the green and made about a 25-footer there. Then had a few good looks coming in and unfortunately couldn't make any of them.

But made it easy on myself. Really, after No. 1, there weren't too many hard pars.

Q. Any surprises from all the talk of how hard the course would play? Any surprises for you once the competition started?

AUSTIN ERNST: They were generous with tees today. They moved up probably four or five tee boxes. Maybe more than that actually. But they were very generous with how they set it up, and I don't think they will be the rest of the week.
