U.S. AMATEUR FOUR-BALL

May 25, 2021

Palmer Jackson

Davis Chatfield

University Place, Washington, USA

Chambers Bay

Quick Quotes

Q. You guys knocked off another USGA champion -- I think of the seven USGA champions in the field, you knocked off five of them. How do you explain that?

PALMER JACKSON: Well, we're trying to be one, and in order to beat USGA champions you've got to beat some.

Q. What happened on the 21st hole because I know on 18 you guys both had chances, and then you both birdied the first extra holes. What happened on the par-3?

PALMER JACKSON: I think Davis hit it 20 feet right of the hole, I put to about eight feet. The one guy hit it in the bunker and Preston hit it to about 15 feet. Shortened story, Preston missed his 15-footer and I had eight or nine feet to win, and I made it.

Q. So he went first? Where was your ball?

DAVIS CHATFIELD: I hit it like three, four feet by.

Q. What did you hit into the par-3?

DAVIS CHATFIELD: I hit wedge it was 151 a little downwind.

Q. Jimmy Dunn is probably going to text you guys?

DAVIS CHATFIELD: Maybe.

Q. It's a long day. Obviously you beat two great sides. Does it kind of sum up this day for you guys?

PALMER JACKSON: It's been super long. We're both exhausted, but right now it's all worth it, and we've got to do the same thing tomorrow. We're going to be playing for a lot more, I guess, so it'll be exciting.

Q. Obviously the winners get -- you know what the winners get, and you've been there.

DAVIS CHATFIELD: Yeah, but we're both focused on winning this event, and whatever comes with it comes with.

Q. By being in the semifinals you get exempt for two years, but the college guys don't always end up using the exemptions, but it's got to be a great day, huh?

PALMER JACKSON: It is.

Q. Is this your best effort, best run in a championship? You made it to the quarters?

PALMER JACKSON: I made it to the quarters, Davis the round of 16. But first semifinal. There's still eight people left.

Q. There's no more USGA champions left. You're going to get two Florida teens tomorrow.

PALMER JACKSON: Exactly.

DAVIS CHATFIELD: We're ready to take on whatever they've got and go at them.
