PGA CHAMPIONSHIP

May 23, 2021

Emiliano Grillo

Kiawah Island, South Carolina, USA

The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island

Quick Quotes

JOHN DEVER: We are joined by Emiliano Grillo, who posted a 2-under 70 today.

Really solid play the last round, and you can take this with you. What did you think out there and where are you going from here with your game?

EMILIANO GRILLO: Well, I thought the golf course was a bit more fair today. You can almost -- if it wasn't for the few setups on the last few holes like 15 and 17, you could have almost birdied every hole. You can definitely see that the wind that we had today, it's what the golf designers had in mind.

Playing under par on the weekend of a major is always solid, so I'm going home with that.

Q. Two-part question. Just first, what is your earliest memory of watching Phil Mickelson play golf, and just what are your thoughts about what he's doing this week?

EMILIANO GRILLO: Funny, I actually -- we actually played on Saturday. We tied, so I saw he was playing really well.

And to your question, the first memories -- it's funny, I hope he doesn't hear this, but the first memories, he was always No. 2 in my eyes. He was No. 2 to Tiger Woods. I think that was the early things that I have from him.

But he's the best No. 2 player of all time, so that says something like really good about him. Of course one of the early memories I have from him is that famous putt that he made at the Masters he won in 2004. He's definitely a person that I've looked at for short game and the way he handles it in tough situations.
