PURE SILK CHAMPIONSHIP PRESENTED BY VISIT WILLIAMSBURG

May 22, 2021

Sarah Kemp

Williamsburg, Virginia, USA

Kingsmill River Course

Quick Quotes

Q. You had never had the outright lead entering a final round, a weekend round.

SARAH KEMP: Uh-huh.

Q. But you look remarkably comfortable out there.

SARAH KEMP: I feel comfortable on this golf course. I think it suits me and I know it back to front. I've played here however many years since -- I don't think I've missed one since I've been or tour for 14 years. I know we had a break for a couple years.

That makes me feel comfortable and my game feels really good, so there is a lot of things to be comfortable for around here. And I honestly had a comfortable pairing. Jess and I, you know, had a few jokes out there, which was nice.

But, yeah, I did feel calm.

Q. You had a nice bounce back after the double.

SARAH KEMP: Yeah.

Q. Did that kind of help bring things back in?

SARAH KEMP: Definitely. I really wanted to -- I was sort of annoyed on 12 tee. Hit a really good -- I kind of almost knew I was going to make birdie. Hit a really good drive and I really wanted it. Hit a great wedge in there and holed the putt.

So, yeah, look, double is -- no one wants to do them, but at least I got them back, so that was good.

Q. Yeah, and then you rolled some -- hit a lot of good putts that didn't go in.

SARAH KEMP: I hit it great and I don't feel like I made anything, hence why I'm here right now.

But, yeah, look, it's a little bit of speed, I think. It wasn't as good today. It got there, but I prefer kind of missing on the high side, going two, three feet past, and today I kind of hit a lot on the low side and only went a foot past.

I'm going to be here now working on that and hopefully be better tomorrow.

Q. Everything happens in its right time. Do you think the 25 year old Sarah Kemp would've responded as well as the 35 year old?

SARAH KEMP: No, not at all. I'm a better player, but I'm in a better mental space. My life is very different to when I was 25, and no matter what happens tomorrow, if I had 90 or I shot 65, life is great. You know, like it's not going to change how happy I am in life and how everything -- however -- my family is healthy. You know, life is just good.

So that's what I appreciate more than tomorrow really.
