PURE SILK CHAMPIONSHIP PRESENTED BY VISIT WILLIAMSBURG

May 22, 2021

Lindsey Weaver

Williamsburg, Virginia, USA

Kingsmill River Course

Quick Quotes

Q. Let's start on the front. You had birdies at 3, 4, and 7.

LINDSEY WEAVER: Uh-huh.

Q. Both the par-5s.

LINDSEY WEAVER: Yes.

Q. How did it feel to get off to a good start?

LINDSEY WEAVER: It was good. Bogeyed the first hole and just kind of kept calm and knew that I could make birdies.

Yeah, it was nice to birdie both par-5s. I did not birdie them previously.

And obviously No. 7, that's kind of a killer when you think about how reachable it is. So I finally birdied that one today.

And, yeah.

Q. Then on the back, 12, 14, 15, and then finished with one on 18 for some good momentum for tomorrow.

LINDSEY WEAVER: Yes.

Q. Strong finish.

LINDSEY WEAVER: Uh-huh. Yeah, it was nice to finish with a birdie. It was kind of a tough putt. I wasn't really sure which way it was going but ended up going in. Yeah, the back nine I always feel is a little bit harder, especially 10 and 11, so I felt like once I got past those two holes I can make a run at it.

Yeah, I was just making a lot of putts today and hitting some solid shots. Yeah, that's what kept it together for me.

Q. Any one in particular stand out as one that you're like, Oh, that was pretty good?

LINDSEY WEAVER: I made birdie on 12 which was my first one.

Q. The par-4.

LINDSEY WEAVER: I guess most separated since the par-5 that I made birdie.

So that kind of gave me momentum to go into the back nine. I don't think that 13 and 14 are very easy, but birdieing 14 was a big one too, with that pin. It was pretty difficult today.

So, yeah.

Q. 15 and 18 were a little different today. Played it a little different.

LINDSEY WEAVER: Yeah.

Q. How different was it?

LINDSEY WEAVER: Well, actually I didn't even go for it on 15. It was just not a good number for me because it played so far into the wind.

So I just laid up like every other day and hit a wedge shot in there close and made like a 10-, 12-foot putt.

Then 18, yeah, I thought I hit a really good drive right where I wanted to but came up short. So I had a little chip shot that kind of wasn't the best chip shot but kept going. It was really fast.

But I made the putt coming back, so that's all that matters.

Q. Exactly. How much different did it play today from the first couple days?

LINDSEY WEAVER: It's kind of played different every day. Yesterday I played in the morning and I felt like the greens were a little softer, but I feel like as the day goes on they just get very firm and you have to just pay attention to which greens are firm and just know that when you're approaching.

So I didn't feel like it played very different from when I played in the afternoon the first day. Just very firm, and obviously I had 7-wood yesterday into hole 10 and today I hit 7-iron, so a little bit of a difference there.

Q. Oh, wow.

LINDSEY WEAVER: So a little bit of a difference there. In that respect it was a little easier.

Q. Uh-huh. You put yourself in a good position for a Sunday run. You've improved each and every day out here with your score. Anticipate a nice low score tomorrow hopefully?

LINDSEY WEAVER: I'm just going to keep trying to do what I been doing and make some putts and just see where I am at the end of the day.
