Ariya Jutanugarn

Pattaya, Thailand

Siam Country Club Pattaya, Old Course

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, Ariya, despite the final hole there an incredible first day here. Take me through the first round.

ARIYA JUTANUGARN: Yeah, today is pretty I would say tough for me. Not about the score because what I feel like I think like I'm not really that much confident with my game.

So I know I have so much thing to work on, but when you play with no expectation it's always better than you expect something good.

Q. Was the expectation of that 75 degree weather this morning taking you by surprise at all?

ARIYA JUTANUGARN: Yeah, when I saw this morning the weather I'm like, oh, it's going to be tough to finish 18 hole today.

Q. But then the weather did get up there. When did you start feeling the momentum kick in for you here?

ARIYA JUTANUGARN: I would say I'm have pretty good start, made birdie on the 1st hole, and not thinking about try to shoot low at all because I'm just thinking about my game. I just really want to have good commitment and feel better about my game.

Q. You're almost 60-under par here before entering this tournament. How comfortable after a day like today do you feel at Siam Country Club?

ARIYA JUTANUGARN: I love to play here. No matter how I play, good or bad, I just love to be here, and the course really challenge for me. When I came here every time it just make me feel so excited to be here.

Q. I felt like every part of your game was clicking out there today. Did you feel that way as well?

ARIYA JUTANUGARN: I will say I still -- I mean, my game was pretty good if you look from the outside, but what I feel like I still have so much thing to work on, and I want to feel more free and relax when I play.

Q. What is something you're working on heading into tomorrow?

ARIYA JUTANUGARN: I will say nothing much at all, because just want to work on the same stuff. Today when I play with no expectation the score is pretty good, but I also want to feel better.

So I'm just going to keep do the same thing, focus on the thing under my control.

Q. With the way the three Thai players at the top have played it looks like it's going to be a Thai final grouping in the second round tomorrow. What does that mean to you to have Patty Tavatanakit doing well, as well as Atthaya, the young 18 year old professional here.

ARIYA JUTANUGARN: I would say both of them inspire me so much. When I see how they play I feel I want to be better as a golfer and as a human.

So the way they work so hard, they really determination, and when I saw them keep playing well it was like help me a lot.

Q. How does it help you seeing them? Does it motivate you?

ARIYA JUTANUGARN: It is, because the way Patty play it's really impressed. Every time I watch she play I feel so impressed. And Atthaya, she really young and how she handle all the pressure and how she been playing so well is so inspiring.
