Nana Koerstz Madsen

Pattaya, Thailand

Siam Country Club Pattaya, Old Course

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, after the first day here in Thailand, overall thoughts as you got off the course?

NANA KOERSTZ MADSEN: Yeah, I was happy with the round. I hit all the fairways I could so that makes it easier. Hit some good approach shots. Had a lot of good birdie chances.

Yeah, I'm happy with the round.

Q. Happy with the round. You were able to have three birdies in row there as well as you were making the turn from 10 to 11, just a part of that bogey-free day that you had. Just what was working so well for you here today?

NANA KOERSTZ MADSEN: Well, I did make some mistakes, but then I saved the par, made a good chip up and down a couple of times.

But the rest was pretty solid. Had pretty much birdie chances the rest of those.

Q. What have you been working on as you prepared for Thailand this week after even last week and the last few events?

NANA KOERSTZ MADSEN: Really trying to say positive because it is really hot out here. I'm not used to that, and last week I had a little shock because of that.

So I'm just trying to stay really positive and stay as energized as I can.

Q. How much do you think getting used to conditions last week really helped getting used to them this week?

NANA KOERSTZ MADSEN: A lot. I mean, Tuesday the first day we came in to Singapore I was -- I couldn't do it. It was so hot. But you get used to it and you adapt to the weather.

So I'm definitely more prepared this week.

Q. I was going to say, I was talking with Nicole who also did well today, and I said this isn't like your home country.

NANA KOERSTZ MADSEN: Not at all.

Q. Was it the conditions that you think helped with the bogey-free rounds? This is a different course that players have been saying because of the conditions that were today.

NANA KOERSTZ MADSEN: Yes, I definitely prefer it a little cooler as it was today. I really like that. It was definitely better for me.

Q. And what has it been like, what specifically have you been working on as you got ready for Thailand and even the Asia swing events?

NANA KOERSTZ MADSEN: I don't think I've done anything different from this event than an American event, just trying to work on my swing and the things I have to work on to perform the best.

So I'm just keep doing the same thing, what I'm working on.

Q. How much has the Solheim Cup been on your mind?

NANA KOERSTZ MADSEN: It has not been on my mind this round. Obviously it's something I would like to try and play in, but I'm trying to just play, and then if I get selected that's fine.

If not, then that's what happens.

Q. Have you had any conversations with Catriona Matthew about making the team?

NANA KOERSTZ MADSEN: Well, I mean, I'm in the group where I think there is a lot of European players, so a little bit.

Q. Did the insects bother you today as you were getting used to the conditions?

NANA KOERSTZ MADSEN: It was only bad on the last five holes. The first hole there was nothing.

Q. Oh, wow. I was going to say, because earlier this morning we were talking about it was 75 degrees here in Thailand, which I don't think anyone is really used to.

NANA KOERSTZ MADSEN: Not in Thailand.

Q. For you working into tomorrow, what are you going to be focusing on? We re-pair and you'll be in the final grouping from what it looks like from here. What is something you'll be focusing on in tomorrow's round?

NANA KOERSTZ MADSEN: I'm just going to try and stay -- like I think when it gets really hot then I tend to like -- my focus kind of disappears, so I just want to try and focus on every shot. If this is a chip, how am I going to hit this chip instead of just getting over it. Yeah, just staying focused.

Q. As I wrap it up, how many lemons today?

NANA KOERSTZ MADSEN: No one.

Q. Oh, I like that.

NANA KOERSTZ MADSEN: Yeah.
