HUGEL AIR PREMIA LA OPEN

April 24, 2021

Tiffany Chan

Los Angeles, California, USA

Wilshire Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Challenging starting with off couple early bogeys, but bounced book nicely with a pair of birdies and an eagle to finish at 2-under. Take me through the front nine and what you told yourself to get back into the groove.

TIFFANY CHAN: So the front nine obviously a little bit more windy and I actually hit my shots really well today. The second hole par-5 I bogey I actually hit a perfect 3-wood and bounced left of the bunker. Hit a perfect bunker shot; just didn't check and then creeped down to the right.

Made bogey there.

But because I felt like I'm hitting it like the first day, like my energy is back and I know I could have a lot of birdie opportunities out there, you just got to be patient. It's windy. Everyone was struggling today, I think.

So I just be patient and wait for the easier hole to make more birdies, and I hit a lot of good shots out there. I just made an eagle there kind of keep me going.

And then I'm finishing all the holes really good, so I'm really proud of what I did today.

Q. Whenever you can birdie the last hole has to leave a tournament with a good feel.

TIFFANY CHAN: Yeah, that is a really big birdie. I could have birdied the last couple holes coming back after par-5. I stiff one on 16, missed that short birdie uphill putt -- then missed that one and I just told my caddie my heart was kind of pounding because it's tough shot, tough par-3.

You know, I really want my first top 10, so -- but then I just -- I been working on my mental a little bit, so I just have to structure myself not to think about results, just keep the process going, and it worked.

And hit a really high fade and went to the pin so it was great.

Q. What was the strategy on 15 today? You've eagled that hole. Big kind of push up the leaderboard.

TIFFANY CHAN: Yeah.

Q. How did you play that hole when you stepped on the tee?

TIFFANY CHAN: Actually yesterday I had a -- yesterday is birdie on eagle chance too but I pull my drive. Today I just wept off the tee box and it will told me caddie, Let's pick a really good line here. I really want to hit the fairway. We can't par that hole.

Everyone basically just birdieing that hole. So I hit a great drive and then pull my second shot, but then it end up pin high and I just drained that eagle.

Just kind of keep my momentum going better late than never.

Q. Yeah. When you can have a finish like this on a course that you know well --

TIFFANY CHAN: Uh-huh.

Q. -- what can it do or your game moving forward?

TIFFANY CHAN: You know, L.A. is a special place to me. Playing well in L.A. Open is one of -- like a major. I mean, I represent SC before and live here for a while, and playing well here really big for me because I don't think this course is not easy at all.

Q. No.

TIFFANY CHAN: So that's -- I have -- now I have three weeks off. The next one I really want to get in is the Vegas tournament because I live there now, so hopefully this could help a little bit, and keep working what I've been doing.
