Quick Quotes

Q. You said you didn't have a plan and you didn't do it until the first tee. What went into that decision to have him tee off?

TONY FINAU: Well, it was a coin flip. I had my coin out and I said, this is heads and this is tails, and we flipped and it was funny actually, it ended up being -- I picked tails and it ended up being heads, and well, what does that mean, and we still didn't know. He just agreed that I would go, and then he jumped the gun on the first hole and he went first, so then I got to No. 2, I'm like, well, I guess you want to go, he's like no, you just go, so I just went on 2, so I just ended up going first all day.

Q. Seems to me you have similar games. When you have someone who's playing well that has a similar game to yours does that sort of feed you?

CAMERON CHAMP: Yeah, definitely. Like you said, in this format it kind of frees me up in a sense. So I've driven it really well today, gave myself a lot of looks. I made a decent amount of putts but then I think both of us, we had a few obviously ones you wish you could have back but that's just how it goes. I just think overall like you said, we have a good energy and it's easy to feed off each other, and whenever another guy is playing well just like No. 9 or certain par-3s, 17, whenever it's in a good position, it definitely frees you up.

Q. I think you both spoke about this earlier in the week, kind of the relationship between you two, how it feeds into a day like this, as well.

TONY FINAU: Yeah, I think it's big, just having a former friendship I think is a good idea going into this event and having a partner that you know. I think we mentioned earlier, emotions are a big part of I think team golf. If you can get past the barrier of what the other guy might be thinking or saying about your shots or whatever the case, we know each other well enough to know that we're doing our best, and it's going to be more evident tomorrow in an alternate-shot than it is in a best ball. Best ball you're playing your own ball and kind of doing our own thing. It'll be more evident, I think, relationships in alternate-shot, so hopefully we can keep this momentum going tomorrow.

Q. If there was no strategy today, what's the strategy tomorrow?

CAMERON CHAMP: It's probably going to be the same thing. None of us --

TONY FINAU: We'll probably flip a coin on the first hole.

CAMERON CHAMP: None of us really have a preference, so like you said, it's just stress free. Whatever holes he wants to hit on, he can do that. If he wants odds or evens, vice versa. Again, we're just trying to keep it even keel, low key and just enjoy our time out there.
