April 22, 2021

Michael Thompson

Will Gordon

Avondale, Louisiana, USA

TPC Louisiana

Quick Quotes

Q. Really well played; Will, I thought the wind came up and was definitely a factor your last few holes?

WILL GORDON: Yeah, no doubt. I think once we turned back into the wind there on 7, 8 and 9, it was a little bit tougher, but we hung in there and made some good pars and made a really good birdie on the par-5.

Q. Michael, you guys really ham-and-egged it well. When one was in trouble another came through, whether it was with a birdie or a good chip to save par. Look at your par at the 9th to end the day; it was really well done.

MICHAEL THOMPSON: Yeah, thank you. We really played well as a team. Like you said, we ham-and-egged it really well. I felt like my job since I don't hit it as far as Will is just kind of get it in play and free him up and give him an opportunity to be aggressive. I felt like I did that well, and then when he had good birdie looks he made the putts and vice versa. You can't complain; like you said, with the wind today, you're not going to see a 12-under like we've seen in the past out here, and 7-under I feel is a really good starting score.

Q. Will, how did this team come together?

WILL GORDON: Yeah, I think Michael and I have known each other for several years just from me hanging out in Sea Island. Our caddies are best friends, so that's kind of how, I guess, the spark happened, but yeah, really happy to be here and really happy to be playing together.

Q. Michael, a lot of people say you're from the University of Alabama. That's a hundred percent true, but you also spent two years here as a member of the Green Wave at Tulane; do you feel like it's home week for you?

MICHAEL THOMPSON: Yeah, absolutely. My wife and I love coming back to this tournament. We love New Orleans. It's where we met, it's where I proposed to her. We have really, really fond memories of this place, and it's exciting to be back in my old stomping grounds. Just a joy to be here.
