Quick Quotes

Q. Leish, can I just have you describe Cam's day?

MARC LEISHMAN: Pretty good. I had the pars covered on most holes, and he had the birdies covered. Yeah, I was there on a couple holes when he made bogeys, and likewise, the holes I struggled on he was there. It was great to be playing with someone who's got a hot putter and putting himself in good positions on pretty much every hole. It made my job pretty easy. Hopefully I can fire up tomorrow and be ready for the foursomes.

Q. Cam, when you play with someone, you guys are obviously close friends, when you play in a situation like this, is it for enjoyable than a normal round on the PGA TOUR?

CAMERON SMITH: Absolutely. You've just got someone to lean on. You've got someone to have a chat with. I think sometimes on a normal round, it can get pretty tense and pretty stressful, so yeah, just good to have a chat with three good mates.

Q. I saw the Instagram story. How did that come about with you cutting --

CAMERON SMITH: Well, I said I needed to get a cut and I was going to go get one yesterday afternoon. Leish said, I can do it, I cut my boys' hair at home. So I put faith in him, and I think he did a pretty good job.

MARC LEISHMAN: During the quarantine, the start of last year when all the hairdressers were closed, my boys were getting a bit scruffy and I cut their hair. I will say I was a bit nervous the first few chunks I took out, but they turned out pretty good, so I was confident I could handle the short sides for Cam.

Q. Is that the ultimate form of trust when it comes to your hair?

CAMERON SMITH: Yeah, I mean, the lines were there. I had a barber do it last year, so all Leish had to do was like a coloring in, just don't go outside the lines. I had a pretty good template to work with. It wasn't too tough.

Q. I don't know if you saw the news about Adam Scott opting out of the Olympics?

MARC LEISHMAN: I didn't, no.

Q. It moves you into the qualifications with Cam right now. How do you feel about that?

MARC LEISHMAN: Excited. It was a goal of mine. I wasn't able to play the last Olympics because Audrey -- we were trying to get pregnant when all that other stuff was happening. But yeah, I'm excited. Hopefully I can play well enough to get myself on to the team. Obviously Matt Jones is snapping at my heels. I know I'll need to play good until June 20, but I want to play well past that, and I'm excited. Be nice to team up with this fellow again.

Q. Leish, do you have to buy dinner, make dinner tonight after the way he carried you?

MARC LEISHMAN: Yeah, I'll probably buy dinner tonight after that exhibition he put on. I think he's definitely owed that.

Q. Was there any thought of maybe just chopping off the back of the hair?

MARC LEISHMAN: No, no chance.

CAMERON SMITH: No, I would have killed him.

Q. Just the 13th hole with the tree in the middle of the fairway, what's your strategy on that hole? Do you have a strategy? What do you plan when you get on the tee there?

MARC LEISHMAN: It depends on the wind. For me I can just make it over the bunker if it's a little bit downwind. Didn't quite do it today, but if it's not you've just got to go right of it. I think it's a good hole. I'm not normally a fan of trees in the middle of fairways, but I think the two that are in the middle of fairways out here are pretty good and make you think about it.
