Jessica Korda

Los Angeles, California, USA

Wilshire Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Another solid day, obviously, with a 65. I've got to ask this first: What's better, a 7-under 64 or a bogey-free 65?

JESSICA KORDA: Well, it's going to sound crazy but I actually lipped out a good amount out there today, so it actually could have been lower. Both are fine. I don't complaint. I know I made a bogey yesterday, but I made up for it with some birdies. Just had a little bit of a harder time with some speed today. Other than that, it's just another good day.

Q. Take us through the six birdies you had; any of them in particular maybe help propel you to a solid finish?

JESSICA KORDA: I was actually -- I had the longest putt on 10, which was our first hole, and I was 15 feet. Everyone else had tap-ins, so that was the nicer one, but I had to kind of get it going.

Honestly I think I made more par saves that stand out to me, making those five-footers for par, and that's kind of what counts and kept me in it.

Q. As of the morning wave you hold the 36-hole scoring record. You tied the 18-hole mark yesterday. You're dialed in I would say. Does it feel like you are?

JESSICA KORDA: Yeah, I mean, you're just plotting your way around the golf course and trying to be smart where we keep it. I got above the hole on a couple holes and they're not easy putts, so you can definitely get out of position really easily out here, so we've been pretty I smart. My caddie Kyle and I are just trying to plot our way around, be maybe sometimes boring but play smart.

Q. You've hit 33 of 36 greens in two days. Some narrow greens out there, not the easiest of targets you're aiming at. What does that say about your preparation and just kind of the feel that you have around Wilshire right now?

JESSICA KORDA: Yeah, it's great. When I even did miss, it wasn't by much. Like you said, the greens are quite small, so sometimes it's actually better to be a little bit off the green but be in a certain spot on the green than to be on the green. And that's kind of the things that we were looking at, especially with some of the pin placements today.

Q. You've won this year, obviously. You played with the two most recent champions on the LPGA Tour and a new major champion. Was there a little extra -- just looking at who you're playing with and some competitiveness that came out?

JESSICA KORDA: Honestly, I love being paired with Lydia. I think I played a practice round with Patty last year. It was kind of just nice to get to know her. She's super nice and has a very long career ahead of her. But I love my pairing. Anytime I get paired with Lydia, we always have such a great time. It was very easy going.

Q. Obviously early to look at, but just a sense of what you'd like to do over the next couple days obviously or what you need to do to continue to put your foot down and leave no doubt?

JESSICA KORDA: Honestly there's always going to be doubts. Like you said, you never know what you're going to get. Just try and do the same thing we have been, prepare for the course and try to hit it in places that we know are going to be beneficial to us and try to do our best with that.

Q. You have now I think 19 of 22 rounds this year; for the average golfer at home watching, when you can put rounds together consistently under par, it amazing us all. What goes through your mind when you can finish and sign a scorecard in the red numbers just about every day it seems?

JESSICA KORDA: No, it's nice. Being able to make a lot of birdies helps. I know the last couple events I've made a lot of bogeys, as well, which has kind of killed my momentum a little bit, and that's the only thing we're trying to change a little bit is maybe play a little bit smarter and starting to get a little bit more consistent with my swing which is really nice. That's really all it is. It's just making some putts, and it's been nice. I can't complain really.
