Quick Quotes

Q. You had it dialed in today it looked like. Take me through what was going right in round 2.

WICHANEE MEECHAI: Yes. Actually I have a really bad start this season, and I just like keep trying and then keep talking with my coach, Chris Mason, and then he said, you hit it good but you just don't have confidence, and he just told me you have to trust yourself and compliment yourself that you are good and try to do it every day. Yeah, and it worked.

Q. Have you noticed quite a difference when you just have that kind of little bit of trust in your swing, what a difference it feels like?

WICHANEE MEECHAI: Yes, yes, like everything.

Q. Take me through the front nine. You had a bogey-free 4-under on the front with four birdies. Any particular one of those stand out? What was going so good on the front?

WICHANEE MEECHAI: Yeah, just hit it so close, and then like makes a lot of -- like make a lot of putts, and then that's it. Everything just right for me today.

Q. You had a couple more birdies on the back nine to finish off a nice 5-under round. Had to feel good walking up 18.

WICHANEE MEECHAI: Yeah, I have a little bit like unconfident when I come to here.

Q. Unconfident?

WICHANEE MEECHAI: Yeah, like I don't feel loose a little bit. Like on 11, I hit it in the bunker so I had to lay up, and after that like my caddie said, you have to -- we can get it back. So I had to trust myself again that I can do it, yeah.

Q. I was looking it up, I think score-wise this is your best position after two rounds since the 2019 Scottish Open.

WICHANEE MEECHAI: Yes.

Q. Would you say you've kind of found something that seems to be fitting your eye, working in your game?

WICHANEE MEECHAI: Yeah. I would say like I practice a lot of putts, like more working on my putt, and yeah, working on my mind a lot.

Q. Anything in particular that you're doing, like do you work with a program for mental game, or do you just kind of work on it?

WICHANEE MEECHAI: I used to talk with Pia and Lynn before, and then I take it back, like take the things that they tell me to do, take it back and then do some like, what do you call, like meditation.

Q. You have a pretty good track record here, made the cut, finished inside the top 35 the two events that we've played here in 2018 and 2019. What is it about Wilshire that you kind of like?

WICHANEE MEECHAI: I don't know. I love LA. It's so cool here, and then this course is so challenging. You don't have to hit driver every shot. You have to use your game plan a lot. I love that. I love that kind of golf course.

Q. Is your coach based here?

WICHANEE MEECHAI: Chris Mason, he lives in San Diego.

Q. Not too far. He's here this week?

WICHANEE MEECHAI: Yeah, he's here this week.

Q. So you get a little extra work?

WICHANEE MEECHAI: Yes.

Q. What about Wilshire makes -- what about the course and the layout and maybe its challenges? What makes it unique compared to other courses?

WICHANEE MEECHAI: Like yeah, that's what I said, like you don't have to hit driver, and you don't have to hit it far. If you hit it on the green, it's like a great shot because the green is so narrow. You can make a lot of birdies if you hit on the green, and then it's like so challenging. You have to think all the time where you're going to go, and then the second shot, like which part of the fairway it makes it easier to get to the green.

Q. So angles in, you've got to be pretty precise?

WICHANEE MEECHAI: Yes.
