Robynn Ree

Los Angeles, California, USA

Wilshire Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. I saw you're an honorary member here.

ROBYNN REE: Yeah.

Q. When did that happen?

ROBYNN REE: Not too long ago. Maybe couple months ago.

Q. So earlier this year?

ROBYNN REE: Uh-huh.

Q. Been able to play out here quite a bit?

ROBYNN REE: No, because as soon as I became an honorary member they punched the course so they were closed for a week.

Then I've been traveling for tournaments. I've only played here once before the tournament.

Q. What's the connection to receive that honor?

ROBYNN REE: Well, I mean, when was at USC this was one of our home courses, and I know a couple members here, and so while I was playing with them -- I was already actually looking into an honorary membership a couple years ago, but at the time they were already kind of like full with that.

So I guess it just worked out with the pandemic and stuff like that. They allowed me to become an honorary member, yeah, earlier this year. I'm actually really grateful. This is not too far from my house, 45 minutes, so it's just nice. Convenient. It's in L.A., and it's so hard to get a membership out in L.A.

Q. What's the hometown again?

ROBYNN REE: Redondo Beach. They keep saying Redondo. It's Redondo Beach. They're cutting off the beach part.

Q. Make sure it's Redondo Beach.

ROBYNN REE: Yeah.

Q. You got to let people know that you live right next to the ocean. So when was the last time you played here? College?

ROBYNN REE: Like the course?

Q. Yeah.

ROBYNN REE: No, I played here -- I got my honorary membership and I played here two weeks after it got punched. So it's obviously -- now the course is in great condition, but then I was just -- it was still bumpy.

Q. Do you feel like there is a little bit of a home course...

ROBYNN REE: Yeah, I know this course pretty well. It's just a matter of how I manage myself on the course.

Because obviously as the week goes on the course is going to get firmer, and in college it was so soft. Like it was -- I would get -- like if you go at a pin it wouldn't bounce off like now.

So it's just a different kind of course management now.

Q. And you have class in five minutes?

ROBYNN REE: Yeah.

Q. Couple more for you. Last semester?

ROBYNN REE: You, I'm graduating in three weeks.

Q. Nice. Congrats.

ROBYNN REE: Thank you.

Q. How does that feel?

ROBYNN REE: Just like a relief. I mean, I guess this -- like I'm a sixth year senior, I took two years off. I didn't think I would be able to graduate because USC doesn't have any online classes at all. Lucky -- not lucky, but luckily for me USC went online because of the pandemic, and so I was able to go back with my scholarship. So it was nice.

Q. Virtual ceremony or...

ROBYNN REE: No, they're allowing us to walk.

Q. Nice. Are going to do it?

ROBYNN REE: Well, they announced that they're going to like have graduation across the span of 11 days, so they haven't announced when our school is going to do it yet.

Hopefully. Hopefully it doesn't overlap with a tournament.

Q. Are you going to Singapore, Thailand?

ROBYNN REE: Uh-uh.

Q. So there is good potential.

ROBYNN REE: Yeah, hopefully the first few days.
