Los Angeles, California, USA

Wilshire Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Has it been a whirlwind since you left Hawaii?

LYDIA KO: You know what? It's been such a quick turnaround with us not being able to play the golf course on Sunday, which would be our normal Monday, it's been pretty like quick.

I took Sunday off. Just went to the beach and walked around there. But, yeah, I think since really from Monday I've been getting ready for this one.

So everything is kind of blended together. But yeah, no, everyone has been super supportive and saying so many like congratulations messages. I feel very grateful for that.

Q. Beach here or Hawaii?

LYDIA KO: Beach in Santa Monica. And the seagull bit me.

Q. Oh, no.

LYDIA KO: It was going for my sandwich. It got my sandwich, too.

Q. Will you take it easy to start the week to get your energy back up?

LYDIA KO: Yeah, I normally work out a couple times prior to the first day, but I worked out yesterday and the day before, so maybe get in a little bit today.

It's been just literally just rest day on Sunday and yesterday played 18. Just wanted to see the golf course and practice.

Yeah, everything is just like very flowing, which is good. And obviously last week was amazing just to be in that position again.

But at the same time, this week is a new week, so you have to focus on what's is right in front of you.

Q. Obviously the goal is to win every week. You know how hard it is to win just a tournament, let alone back to back. How do you approach this week coming off your first win in three years?

LYDIA KO: No, I'm just going to stick to my game plan. Just go one shot at a time. I'm sure it'll be a lot of eyes looking, but, yeah, no, every day is a new day, so I just got focus on this week and just be committed out there and hit -- just hit every shot with conviction, and whatever happens later with the outcome, that's out of my control.

So just have another good week here. I love being in California, so enjoy that.

Q. How much did the win recharge you?

LYDIA KO: To say that my life was turned upside down after the win, I don't think that is the truth. Obviously it was great just to be in contention and then end up winning. I think that settled some of the doubts I had in myself.

But after that, yeah, you know, I think there was some mixed emotions but I felt pretty calm about everything and just I felt pretty calm playing.

That's where I feel like it should be. Like just because I shoot a 68 or 78, that shouldn't dictate my mood and the way I am around the golf course.

I think there are some players, Inbee is probably one of them, where you don't know what she's shooting -- and most of the time she's shooting very low. But I think that's the mindset you need to be in.

Golf is golf, and I'm going to try my 100%, and after that, that's it. So just have a good time, another beautiful time, and obviously we didn't get to play this event last year, so good to be back.

Q. Last one. Big birthday week. Happy birthday?

LYDIA KO: Thank you.

Q. Any plans?

LYDIA KO: I fly out to Singapore Saturday night, so play some golf hopefully on Saturday here and take a shower and I'll be on that flight straight to Singapore. My mom is here with me so at least we can spend it together.

Q. So she's going overseas with you?

LYDIA KO: No.
