Will Zalatoris

Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, USA

Harbour Town Golf Links

Quick Quotes

Q. 4-under on the day, 7-under for the round. You've now made 13 consecutive cuts on the PGA TOUR. I know you said yesterday you're a little bit fried but your golf game isn't showing it. What are your takeaways from the day.

WILL ZALATORIS: Yeah, I played well today. I didn't really hit it that great, but made a bunch of putts. I putted nice, made a couple of 20-footers throughout the day. Especially early, kind of making a 25-ish-footer on 2 from just off the green, that kind of set the tone for the rest of the day, so it was a fun day.

Q. You spent the last two days playing with world No. 1 Dustin Johnson. What kind of lessons do you learn from him?

WILL ZALATORIS: He hits it really far, and it's just fun to watch. The guy is a tactician. I know the guy obviously hits it a mile, but he picks his spots and doesn't really make a lot of mistakes. Yesterday he didn't play like he normally does, but he came out firing today, and it was fun to watch. The guy didn't make many mistakes at all today, and obviously coming in with 31, and the guy played well.

Q. Two more days, lots of golf left to play. What sort of expectations do you have for yourself?

WILL ZALATORIS: Yeah, just keep doing what I'm doing. I've been rolling it really well. Just keep giving myself chances and we'll see what happens.

Q. You said you were a little tired coming in. How have you been able to maintain the energy and the focus so far this week?

WILL ZALATORIS: Yeah, playing with world No. 1 always helps, too. Yeah, it was fun. You know, like I said yesterday, playing with Billy and Dustin, guys that I've admired for probably almost a decade and watched their careers. I think if anything it's try not to make any really dumb decisions throughout the round. I made one yesterday. But just keep doing what I'm doing. Keep giving myself chances, and I'm rolling it really well, so stay in the loop and hang around the lead. I know Stewart is obviously playing a different golf course than the rest of us, but we'll see what happens this weekend.

Q. You mentioned playing with DJ and playing in front of some big crowds. Do you feel like the experience last week helped you?

WILL ZALATORIS: Yeah, I mean, the reality is that you've got -- crowds don't really bother me that much because you've got to think of all the people that are watching at home, too. If a couple thousand people bother you while you're playing, why don't you think about the couple million that are watching you at home. It's fun. I feed off their energy, and obviously last week kind of being a, quote-unquote, underdog, if you will, it's really fun. A.J. was joking, he's like, man, you're pretty popular out here now because all the guys are screaming, "Mr. Gilmore, I'm your caddie," or saying some variation of my last name or "go Deacs." Obviously since we're somewhat in the neck of the woods. So it's really fun.
