MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 10, 2021

Viktor Hovland

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Great birdie at the last.

VIKTOR HOVLAND: Thanks.

Q. Where were you when play was suspended, and how did you find the golf course change when you returned?

VIKTOR HOVLAND: I was up on the green on 14 when they called it, and obviously it was blowing, and it was a little lighter. Then when we came back out, it was very calm. Except for the last couple of holes, it kind of picked up a little bit. The greens were more receptive and a little slower. So it was a little difference.

Q. Crazy things have happened on Sunday at the Masters. Do you think a low round is out there tomorrow?

VIKTOR HOVLAND: I mean, we'll see. I don't know what the conditions are going to be like out there, but probably will be a few too many shots behind. But I'm just going to go out there and play the best golf I can, and we'll see what that adds up to in the end.

Q. When you look back on the first round, how did you bounce back from that opening triple mentally?

VIKTOR HOVLAND: Yeah, I knew I was playing good, so I just kind of -- as boring as it sounds, just trust the process and pick my spots. Even though I made a couple birdies right after, it's still a long tournament. You don't have to get it all back immediately. There's some birdie holes out there, but there's some really hard holes as well. So you've just got to be patient.

Q. The conditions to start the day, did you think somebody might go low, or did you feel like it was going to be an up and down round for everybody?

VIKTOR HOVLAND: I thought it was going to be a grind. The greens are firm, about the same as it's been the last couple days, but the wind picked up. Yeah, so I thought it was going to be a real tough challenge today, just with how the winds were. But if you play good golf, you can still shoot low.

Q. Enough rain today to affect tomorrow, or do you expect it to be right back to what it's been?

VIKTOR HOVLAND: I have no idea. The greens staff would probably have a better idea. It depends on the weather as well. I'm sure it will be not as soft as it is right now, but it will maybe not as firm as it's been the last couple days would be my guess.
