MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 9, 2021

Corey Conners

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. How would you characterize that round today?

COREY CONNERS: Yeah, it was a solid round. Similar to yesterday. Main difference being my score on 13. It went from a 7 yesterday to a 3 today. So that was nice to get one back there.

Overall, it was a solid day, hit a lot of really nice iron shots, drove the ball well, tried to keep as much stress off myself as possible.

Q. I didn't see what you did on 18, but if you hit the fairway there, you were 14 for 14 on the fairways, is that right?

COREY CONNERS: That sounds right, yeah. I drove it very nicely.

Q. Does that make everything a little bit easier, sets you up for the second shot?

COREY CONNERS: Certainly does, yeah. Fairways are really important out here, gives you a chance to control your shot going into the green. Typically from the fairway you've got an angle at the green as well. So I think that's definitely a big key and part of the reason I played well today.

Q. Was it a little easier to get the ball closer to the hole on the approach shots today?

COREY CONNERS: There was definitely some hole locations where you could feed the ball into it a little bit, and the cloud cover didn't quite bake the greens out as much as they were yesterday, I would say. But a few more accessible hole locations, but there wasn't really a lot of pins you were trying to fire right at.

Q. There's always a lot of chances here that you have that probably don't come through with putts that seem fairly short or fairly makable. How do you adjust your -- I don't know, your feelings about how you come out of a round like today, the sort of shoulda, woulda, coulda?

COREY CONNERS: Yeah, there's a lot to take from the round. Had to putt defensively on a few birdie putts, 14. Eagle putt on 15 was lightning fast. Same thing on 14, big swing and putt. I was only maybe nine feet away or eight feet away, but didn't want to leave myself another 8-footer coming back. If I got a little greedy, that could have easily happened. So overall, pretty solid, pretty happy with the day.

Q. Were conditions with the cloud cover a little bit softer, though?

COREY CONNERS: I would say just a little bit softer. I didn't notice some of the greens looking quite as baked out as they were towards the end of the day yesterday, but the course is still in perfect shape. It was firm and rolling well.

Q. Now going into the weekend, how do you approach things?

COREY CONNERS: Just going to keep trying to do more of the same, like we touched on. Keep hitting the ball in the fairways, give myself chances to hit on the green and hopefully can roll in some birdie putts.
