MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 9, 2021

Ryan Palmer

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Just your assessment of the day.

RYAN PALMER: Yeah, it turned out to be a really good round. A little shaky start, tee shot on 1 in 9 fairway, which ended up hitting a great shot and making par. Hit another one left on 2 and got a lucky bounce off the tree into the middle of the fairway. Other than that, a lot of great shots. I putted solidly. A lot of good five footers, I think I made today.

Didn't do anything spectacular. Just kept the ball in front of me and made a lot of great shots. I think there's still a low round in there.

Q. What was the difference between yesterday and today?

RYAN PALMER: Soft golf course for sure. You could attack a lot more pins than you did yesterday. It definitely played a good foot and a half slower for sure on a lot of the putts, and the ball is stopping too. It was there for the taking, and I took advantage of that.

Q. Do you feel like this is an event you can go out and get on the weekend?

RYAN PALMER: I think so. I'm confident in my game to play kind of anywhere now, the way I've been going. It's a matter of not getting ahead, not letting this stage get to me, I guess, and just stay within myself. I made some putts out there. I can give myself a chance, I think.

Q. How do you kind of do that? How do you kind of stay within yourself? How do you kind of make sure you don't get out in front of it?

RYAN PALMER: When I do, I just tell myself hit this shot, this shot, this shot, and kind of come back a little bit. That's the main thing. It is hard to do that. It's easy to get wrapped up in what's ahead and what could happen. But there's 36 holes of golf left. I'll probably be five back, it looks like maybe, and right there in the thick of it.
