MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 9, 2021

Larry Mize

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. It was a little cleaner today.

LARRY MIZE: Yeah, not a lot. You know, I had a stretch on there at the end of the front and the middle of the back where I actually started playing decent. Other than that, it was a big struggle. Pretty disappointing the way I played.

Q. Did you expect more coming in? How was your game coming into the week?

LARRY MIZE: It wasn't good coming in, but I didn't expect this. I didn't expect it to be this bad, but it was. You've got to take the bad with the good. So we just fought for everything we could get. It was a lot of fight, there just wasn't a lot of good there.

Q. You had the bright spot on 13. Talk about that birdie.

LARRY MIZE: Yeah, I've been working on my wedges. Hit a good wedge in there to about three feet and made that for birdie, which was nice, only birdie of the day. So that was nice. I was trying to see if I couldn't make some more birdies and finish off and shoot 74 or something like that and just couldn't do it.

Once again, I hit some bad shots and missed some putts. When you're hitting it bad and putting it bad, it doesn't work out too good, especially when they've got the course playing like this. The course is playing really good. It was playing hard, obviously, you can tell by the scores. You've got to be playing good or it will get you.

Q. If you had to pick a number to win, what does your gut tell you?

LARRY MIZE: I thought 10 under was going to be good at the beginning of the week, and I'll still stay with that. I think 10 under is going to be good. It may not win, but it's going to be pretty close. With 4 under leading right now, it's still pretty good. With 20 last year, I think 10 under is going to be pretty close to the winning score this year.

Q. Next year will be your 35th anniversary of '87. Have you given that a thought?

LARRY MIZE: I did not.
