MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 8, 2021

Jason Day

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. How would you assess your play out there today?

JASON DAY: Terrible. Yeah, it was -- I mean, it's just frustrating. I did absolutely nothing right today, which is unfortunate. So I've got to go back to the range, work on some stuff, go to the putting green and work on that as well.

I'll tell you it's been extremely frustrating over the last year and a half, two years. Sometimes I get discouraged out there, but it is what it is. I've just got to focus on trying to stay patient.

Q. What was the most frustrating part of your game today?

JASON DAY: Probably all of it.

Q. But you got off to a good start?

JASON DAY: Yeah, it was okay. I got off to a good start through six holes, was playing pretty solid. Then just got it -- I didn't really get out of position. Short game just didn't show up, and on top of it, didn't hit the shots that I needed to out there.

Q. So down on Amen Corner and there on the back, did it just get a lot more windy?

JASON DAY: Yeah, the wind started to switch around a bit, but I just can't find any trust in some of the shots out there and pulled up short again on 15 in the water. So frustrating because, after I hit a decent drive, I had a 6 iron in my hand and hit it in the water.

17, 18 is just equally frustrating because I committed to a shot and got the wind totally wrong, and it should have been a total different shot. So just compounding one after another. You just can't back up bad shots with another bad shot. You're going to frustrate yourself.

Q. So what do you do now this afternoon? Do you go try to work it out? Do you go try to get it out of your system? What do you do?

JASON DAY: I'm going to go and try -- all I can do is just work. I think I've been working very, very hard on my game, and I've got absolutely nothing out of it. So I've just got to keep working. If that's the case -- I've got three weeks off after this. I can take some time off and clear my head, but that's thoroughly frustrating today.
