AUGUSTA NATIONAL WOMEN'S AMATEUR

April 3, 2021

Brooke Riley

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quote

Q. What is this like to be out here? Is it a dream come true? Can you put it into words what it means?

BROOKE RILEY: That's probably the best way to describe it. It kind of feels like you're having to pinch yourself all day and feels like you're going to wake up at some point and you don't. You're here, you're playing at Augusta and competing at Augusta. It's its own -- its on its own level. Just had so much fun and had such a good time out here and soaked in every minute of it.

Q. Two years ago it felt to me like this golf course elevates all of you, whoever it is, there's something about the course that takes you to a different place. Do you believe that and could you describe that?

BROOKE RILEY: Totally, I think when you're competing out here, I think any time the girls that are out here that are competing, they go into a different level and I think especially out here that happens and you can see it on the leaderboard over there, girls are getting after it and its tight and it's such good competition. It's a lot of fun.

Q. You know most everyone?

BROOKE RILEY: Yeah.

Q. Did you ever perceive that you be meeting on the grandest stage?

BROOKE RILEY: No, not until a couple years ago. We never knew this would be a possibility or reality, especially for women amateurs. It's such an incredible experience. To see friends and fellow competitors, it's incredible. There's nothing like it.

Q. There's a lot of conversation about the Georgia law, I know you've Tweeted in the past talking about racial inequity. As a young person that cares about these issues, is that something that comes to mind or are you blocking that stuff out?

BROOKE RILEY: That's always on your mind. I think when you're in a situation like this, I think your head is in a different space. Yeah, I mean, especially with the girls out here, I think people just generally are -- like that's in their mind but I think when you're competing at Augusta and you're competing in general, your mind is in that space for sure.

Q. Is there anything else you want to say about that particular in terms of the issues here in Georgia?

BROOKE RILEY: That's okay. Yeah, thank you.
