AUGUSTA NATIONAL WOMEN'S AMATEUR

March 31, 2021

Paris Hilinski

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. You're rocketing up in the golf world real fast. How does this tournament, this experience sort of rate? How does it fit in with all the things you've done?

PARIS HILINSKI: It's definitely up at the top. Obviously, this and the U.S. Open are probably my biggest accomplishments. Being here is amazing. I mean, I didn't think that I would get here this fast, and to be here and be competing is incredible.

Q. Do you know what your sort of decision is next? Are you going to some school or anything else you got?

PARIS HILINSKI: I haven't announced it, and I'm not sure yet. I'm only a junior, so I have a whole year to think about it. We'll see.

Q. You come from a very athletic family. Your cousin was a quarterback just down the road. Do you sort of glean or get any information about their experiences going when they were going through it at the same age as you were?

PARIS HILINSKI: I actually did talk to his dad, my uncle, and him about the whole recruiting process, like writing coaches back and stuff. It's nice to have other people in elite level sports to kind of talk to.

Q. Goal for tomorrow here?

PARIS HILINSKI: To go low. The course is really hard. It was a lot of effort today to shoot what I did. So hopefully, I can tighten up everything and go low tomorrow.

Q. How are you going to prepare for tomorrow?

PARIS HILINSKI: I'm going to work on some ball striking and definitely some chipping. The slopes are a lot more brutal than they appear. So just tighten up the ball striking, and it will probably help with my shots onto the green.

Q. And how was the experience last night at Augusta National?

PARIS HILINSKI: It was incredible. Driving down Magnolia Lane was like so special. You know you watch it on TV, but to see it in person is amazing.

Q. Going back to the competition at your home course in Florida, obviously. You seem like a very competitive person around that track. Anything to sort of, again, gleaning information about just being a competitor and things like that.

PARIS HILINSKI: Learning from obviously my coach is amazing, and he teaches some amazing people. So getting to learn from them and play golf from them, it's incredible. I mean, it's amazing. You learn stuff that I don't think -- it would take me a while to learn from just experience because I don't have that much. So to be able to get information like that is really helpful.

Q. I heard you beat Gretzky. Have you beat M.J.?

PARIS HILINSKI: I haven't, but I have beat Wayne quite a few times.
