Q. After last year's tournament being cancelled, how does it feel to be at ANWA?
CATERINA DON: It's amazing. I played here two years ago, and it was an amazing time. It's a beautiful tournament, and I just love it. Last year was pretty disappointing with everything that was going on. We didn't get a chance to compete in many events, especially this one. It's really nice to be able to tee it up out here with another 80 people, 80 girls. I just love it.
Q. Do you feel like you have an advantage since you played last year?
CATERINA DON: The golf course is pretty tough, and the greens are really, really firm. You've got to get out there and play good golf. I think there's no to little advantage having played this golf course more. You've just got to play really, really smart out there.
Q. How do you assess your round?
CATERINA DON: I had a rough start, but I mean, I stayed pretty solid around the whole round. I was hitting great shots. Then a couple of good putts dropped, and that was really helpful.
Q. What are your expectations for tomorrow?
CATERINA DON: I'm just going to go out the same way I did today, try to do my best. Everything can happen. This is a hard golf course, so I'm just going to accept whatever I get.
Q. What does it mean to you to be playing after the past year and the pandemic?
CATERINA DON: It's just a huge opportunity. We were lucky enough to play even in the fall, and I know some schools didn't. I'm really grateful. Everything could change tomorrow, and every time you get to tee up the ball, it's just a good opportunity. It just makes you appreciate the game of golf more.
Q. How was last night?
CATERINA DON: It was really good. You always get chills when you drive down Magnolia Lane. It's an experience that everyone wants to do but not everybody gets. You've got to enjoy it at the maximum.
