BIG 12 CONFERENCE MEN'S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

March 13, 2021

Brock Cunningham

Kansas City, Missouri, USA

Texas Longhorns

Postgame Press Conference

Texas - 91, Oklahoma State - 86

Q. What do you say about this team, where it's come from? With Andrew, what he got through, what you got through in February, losing four out of five. Is it okay to call Texas a little bit of an underdog right now?

BROCK CUNNINGHAM: I don't know about underdog. I just know we've got a good squad and we're confident in our ability.

Q. Brock, that was the most Brockiest game you've had yet, making stuff happen, but I've got to know, what were you saying to Cade out there?

BROCK CUNNINGHAM: Just not letting him push me around, not someone to take anything from anybody, and just hold my ground.

Q. Brock, it looked like you guys were having just a ton of fun out there. Even when the moments got tense and the score tightened and everything like that, you guys didn't blink. Where do you think that comes from? Because this is a program that in times in the past has blinked in those kinds of moments.

BROCK CUNNINGHAM: Our maturity and our leadership throughout the program. We've got top leaders with Matt Coleman, Courtney Ramey, Andrew Jones, and guys behind the scenes that keep everything calm. We're just a very mature team.

Q. Brock, what does this mean to your head coach? He's had his struggles trying to get the program where he wants it to be and to rebound from the struggles with the COVID and to win a Big 12 title. How big is that for Shaka?

BROCK CUNNINGHAM: I haven't spoken to him about it, but I'm sure he's ecstatic about it.

Q. Over the last two games, it just seems like whenever you all have needed something from Matt, he has been able to step up and deliver. What's it been like for his four-year journey? Obviously, you got more games to play in the tournament, but to culminate with this clipping down the net where just two years ago you all were at MSG clipping down nets for the NIT.

BROCK CUNNINGHAM: What was the question in there? Sorry about that.

Q. What's it been like watching Matt for the last two games, I should say. It looked like he's kind of taken his game to another level for you all.

BROCK CUNNINGHAM: It's been amazing. He's my roommate, so I've really gotten to know him over the past couple months, and watching him have the success he's had is amazing because he does deserve it and he's a great player.

Q. Brock, just want to get your thoughts on Jericho. He's had four straight games of double digit points. Just what have you seen from him this tournament and how his role has really stepped up over the past few games.

BROCK CUNNINGHAM: He's been enforcing his will. We knew Jericho could be this player this whole season, his whole career, and for him to pull it out when we needed it has been amazing.
