BIG EAST CONFERENCE MEN'S BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

March 12, 2021

Jamorko Pickett

New York, New York, USA

Georgetown Hoyas

Madison Square Garden

Postgame Media Conference

Georgetown - 66, Seton Hall - 58

Q. Your coach just talked about how you hadn't won a Big East Tournament before. You're a senior now, you've won three in a row. What does this mean to you?

JAMORKO PICKETT: It means a lot. Like you said, we haven't been to the championship since 2010. That's long overdue, especially with all the adversity we overcame this year. So it means a lot.

Q. Talk about you and Bile defending Sandro, particularly in the first half you guys really did a good job on him?

JAMORKO PICKETT: Yeah, I mean, the first game and the second game we played them in the regular season, I just wanted to make everything tough for him. He's a great player. He touches the game in a lot of ways for them -- scoring, rebounding, passing. I just wanted to make every look he got tonight just tough.

Q. Since the pause, you guys have been playing fairly well. Is there a feeling of confidence that you guys have that you're not going to lose?

JAMORKO PICKETT: We always had confidence. We never go into a game thinking we're going to lose. But the COVID pause, it helped us out a lot. I can't say what specifically happened that created the change. But it was definitely needed. And we are playing great now.

Q. As a local kid, what does it mean for you to be able to put your team in a position to where you just need one more game and you could potentially make March Madness?

JAMORKO PICKETT: It means a lot coming out of D.C. public schools. We don't get a lot of recognition or looks coming out of that type of place, that type of environment. So, you know, I definitely take a lot of pride in that. And I'm proud of myself, and I know a lot of other people are, too.

Q. Coach Ewing mentioned some of the things that happened to him at the Garden, despite the legacy he built as a player. And he also talked about people predicting Seton Hall winning this game. And you mentioned the D.C. public schools and not much notoriety there. How much does this team play with a chip on its shoulder compared to some of the other teams that you've been on here at Georgetown?

JAMORKO PICKETT: That's just Georgetown for you. Since back when he was playing, Georgetown has always been known as a team that's going to do whatever it takes to win.
