SOUTHEASTERN CONFERENCE MEN'S BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

March 11, 2021

Maxwell Evans

Nashville, Tennessee, USA

Vanderbilt Commodores

Postgame Press Conference

Florida 69, Vanderbilt 63

THE MODERATOR: Max, how are you doing?

MAXWELL EVANS: Good.

THE MODERATOR: Why don't we start with some of your opening thoughts on tonight's game, the year, then we'll take questions.

MAXWELL EVANS: I think tonight all the guys played hard. Florida is a very great team. Coach Stack had a great game plan. Missed a couple open shots that we normally make but didn't make those shots.

The season, I had a lot of fun my last year. Thanks to all the guys for making this happen for me. Every one of the coaches has been amazing so far.

THE MODERATOR: Questions.

Q. How would you sum up the season from where you think the program is going from here?

MAXWELL EVANS: Yeah, the program is for sure heading in an upward trend. Coach Stack does an amazing job coaching, every one of the coaches. I'm just very curious to see how it will be next year.

Q. Are you definitely moving on? You have the extra year. Have you thought about that?

MAXWELL EVANS: I still have some decisions that need to be made with my family right now.

Q. Can you talk about the second half of this game, what this team showed in battling back, but also maybe just missing one or two of those shots that didn't go that could have made it a different game?

MAXWELL EVANS: It just shows us we're right there with any SEC team. We can compete at the highest level. We normally make those shots. If we make those shots, it's a very winnable game for us.

Q. How much do you feel like this team kind of grew up the last six weeks of the season?

MAXWELL EVANS: Oh, yeah, we grew up a lot. Starting off, it was kind of rough. I think everyone got in the hang of things, great leadership from all the guys, including Clevon and myself. They just have to grow up competing in the SEC. I think they did a very good job of that.

Q. What was it like sharing a backcourt with Scotty Pippen this season? What do you think is next for him?

MAXWELL EVANS: It was amazing playing with a very talented, gifted guard like Scotty. We both teach certain things on the court. He's very experienced with him and his dad. It's the moon. Scotty is a great player. I just want the best for him in his situation.

THE MODERATOR: Thank you. Appreciate the time.

MAXWELL EVANS: Thank you.
