ATLANTIC COAST CONFERENCE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

March 4, 2021

Destiny Harden

Greensboro, North Carolina, USA

Miami Hurricanes

Postgame Press Conference

Virginia Tech 72, Miami 64

Q. Unbelievable third quarter there for you, 13 points. What is it about the second half with you? What happens to you when you come out of that locker room at halftime that you go into these kind of second-half spins that you do?

DESTINY HARDEN: Really just fighting back. Really just fighting back trying to get my team involved. Just being me on the court and just giving it my all. It's not really like a science thing that I've got going on, but just giving it my all.

Q. Do you find you play your best when the team is down or when you're in a gap, in a hole, and then you have to fight back? Is that what you thrive on?

DESTINY HARDEN: No, I try to do it all the time, but I mean, when we're going back and forth, my team is also involved. But I think I've just got to step it up a little notch just to try to push my team over to the notch.

Q. Coach Meyer said that the team made it a million times harder for Virginia Tech to play against in the second half. What sort of adjustments do you think were made from your stance?

DESTINY HARDEN: I don't know, maybe just hitting the open shots. Just being a defensive player, two-way player. I don't know. Just playing hard.

Q. Destiny, what do you think you guys were not doing in the first half? Why were they able to pull ahead by 21? What do you think was lacking from your team?

DESTINY HARDEN: We just wasn't talking on the defensive end. I think that really killed us. We kind of knew their plays. We knew their plays going in, the scout going in. We just had to guard one-on-one. Their guards went off on us. We was focusing a lot on Kitley, but the guards ended up having a lot of isos, and our guards was just not alert the first half, so they got a lot of points going off the bounce.

Q. In general, how would you say -- how do you feel about the way the team performed this year overall? If you had to sort of summarize the season, what would you say?

DESTINY HARDEN: Overall I'm proud of my team. Just a lot of adversity. We fought through everything without the pandemic. Nobody had any positive results back. I'm proud of everybody. We're just going to bounce back no matter what's going to go on, if we have more games or whatnot.

But overall I'm super proud of my team. I'm so glad I'm with this program. I'm so glad the coaching staff is kind of pushing us every single day, players wanted to get better every single day. Nothing to be mad about my teammates. We just fell short today.
