ATLANTIC COAST CONFERENCE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

March 4, 2021

Jewel Spear

Greensboro, North Carolina, USA

Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Postgame Press Conference

Wake Forest 82, North Carolina 71

Q. Are you still feeling it? Are you still open? Are you draining threes right now?

JEWEL SPEAR: No, I'm done.

Q. Do you have anything left for tomorrow?

JEWEL SPEAR: Yes, I do.

Q. What was it like out there to be like that on fire, and have you had an experience like that before in your career?

JEWEL SPEAR: Not in the college career, more so high school, but it was exciting. Our teammates were finding me and they were just telling me to keep shooting, which gives me confidence all the time. So all credit to them.

Q. Coach said that you were shooting well at practice yesterday. Did you kind of feel it coming in that this was going to be that kind of game? She also mentioned the Spalding balls; did they just feel good out of your hand?

JEWEL SPEAR: I mean, you could say that. I've never really played with Spalding, usually Wilson or Adidas. I get you could say that. But yeah, we all had a great practice yesterday, and we shot really well, so it just came into today.

Q. Did the fact that you were hot shooting the ball early in the game, did that kind of change how you were planning on playing on offense? Were you confident taking more shots because you were hitting them?

JEWEL SPEAR: Yes, you could say that I was more confident. Like I said, my teammates just told me to keep shooting and they were creating shots for me, so they were driving and kicking, and when I was open I just shot it.

Q. I don't know if you know, that was a career high for you tonight in college, or I guess today. You had 29 points, which is five more than your career high. How important was that to you and getting the ball in the hoop so many times, how much did that mean to you in today's game?

JEWEL SPEAR: It meant a lot, but mostly the win because my goal is to get to March Madness. Yeah, it's great to have 29 points or whatever I had, but all credit to my teammates, and all I was trying to do was win, and we won, so that's all I care about.

Q. You kind of touched on it, but you just wanted to win, but to get the win the way you did, the way you played, your team is moving on and hopefully you're going to March Madness now, what does it mean you were able to do it on this stage?

JEWEL SPEAR: Yeah, it was definitely exciting. It was my first game here. I had my family here, and we had our fans here, so it was exciting. It really was.
