PAC-12 CONFERENCE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

March 3, 2021

Maggie Besselink

Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

Arizona State Sun Devils

Postgame Press Conference

USC 71, Arizona State 65

Q. How do you feel about getting a double-double and just staying competitive the way you guys worked all the way through to the end?

MAGGIE BESSELINK: I think it came a little late, but we worked hard as a team towards the end, and it needed to come a little earlier, or a lot more sooner.

Q. Coach said you guys are looking to play in the WNIT. Just getting that postseason experience, what would that mean to you?

MAGGIE BESSELINK: We're a team made for March and we want to keep playing in March, so I think it's just more games, more experience, and we can totally do well.

Q. You've played well back to back games. I'm just wondering, did something click for you in your head? Was it something that Charli said to you down the stretch? Because arguably these are your two best games of the season on Sunday against Arizona and today against USC.

MAGGIE BESSELINK: I just think as the games go on, we grow as players, and we evaluate and adjust. I don't think anything clicked, it was just we know or we knew what we had to do and we didn't, like, fully succeed.

Q. USC had a pretty balanced attack, more so than when they played you guys earlier this season. What do you think was the key thing for them, especially getting to the lead they got in the first half?

MAGGIE BESSELINK: I think we need to lock in on defense a lot harder. They hit some pretty open shots and we should have been there on defense.

Q. I just wanted to ask kind of a fun question. I don't know if you had seen it or the moment, but it was Iris' behind-the-back pass. It was obviously an awesome highlight and it immediately was on Twitter and everybody was kind of talking about it, kind of a special moment. Does that kind of epitomize her play-making ability and how special she is at dishing out the ball?

MAGGIE BESSELINK: With Iris driving I knew there was a pass coming, but I didn't know what kind of pass, so I'm thankful that I caught it.
