ATLANTIC COAST CONFERENCE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

March 3, 2021

Jayla Everett

Greensboro, North Carolina, USA

Pitt Panthers

Postgame Press Conference

Boston College 67, Pitt 56

Q. Jayla, seemed like things were going pretty well for you all there at the end of the second quarter. I think you had nine points in the span of about two minutes and some change. What worked for you there at the end of that quarter?

JAYLA EVERETT: I think really just trying to get in attack mode. It seemed like we were down, so I was trying to just execute and run everything that he was telling me to do and then just shoot the ball, shoot the ball honestly.

Q. Jayla, the way the game started, did you just kind of have a flashback to the way the regular season game had gone? But by the same token, did you have the confidence that you could come back?

JAYLA EVERETT: Yeah, I always have confidence, honestly. I feel like we dug ourselves too deep in a hole all season, so I honestly feel like that played a huge part. This time we couldn't come back.

Q. You were the newcomer coming into this season, transferred in, but then got a lot of responsibility to sort of carry this team offensively at times. How did you grow this year and how has your game changed, and what was this year like for you at Pitt?

JAYLA EVERETT: I'm actually -- I actually really did enjoy my year playing, honestly. The atmosphere was completely different. I felt like I was around a group of people that wanted to see me succeed and wanted to succeed just as much as I wanted to succeed.

Honestly, I honestly enjoyed myself here. I felt like I learned patience really, which is actually good, because something I want to do in the future is actually continue to play basketball. So I felt like learning how to meet my teammates and the people that I'm playing with can help me out a lot in the long run, so I felt like I'm learning a lot.

And then as far as what I'm going to take next year, I would say attack mode. I've felt like I've always been a reserved kind of player, like just go-with-the-flow, chill. I feel like this year showed me what I'm really capable of and how to just step up and actually just play the game and stop shying away so much and let other people try to take over.
