ATLANTIC COAST CONFERENCE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

March 3, 2021

Cameron Swartz

Greensboro, North Carolina, USA

Boston College Eagles

Postgame Press Conference

Boston College 67, Pitt 56

Q. Cam, coach said you were seeing a big basket out there, especially the free-throw line and just hitting some of those shots out there. You scored 33. For you just what was working for you and what enabled you to get all those points?

CAMERON SWARTZ: I think just the way, like being able to get open. When we have great players like two other shooters, Marnelle and Dickie on the court, and we also have T Soule at the high. Like people are going to play in, and when they get the ball, Pitt really helped off and got collapsed, didn't watch out for other shooters to spread the floor and gave me the opportunity to get some shots.

I don't know, just felt like I was in the right spot at the right time and it just felt good. Playing in front of my parents, too, my brother, my cousins was also a good feeling, and just felt good.

And then when I was shooting three I'd just drive and did the jump shot, so just staying really focused and confident really helped me out.

Q. You hit 15 out of your 16 free throws today; have you ever had a basketball game where you've taken that many free throws, much less made 15?

CAMERON SWARTZ: No, I have not. I mean, I think that in the past my coaches always told me like get to the free-throw line, get to the free-throw line; shot's not falling, get to the free-throw line.

So this game, like -- my shot was falling, but I was just going to get to the line. And I knew they were fouling, they were stepping up and fouling. I mean, luckily I got the two three-point shots and they fouled.

I mean, I tried to avoid contact but it just happened. I've never had 15 -- shot 16 free throws in a game, but I knew that every time I stepped up to the line I came in with confidence and I was like, I'm going to hit this.

Q. You're going to get Syracuse tomorrow, and I know this is the second time in three games that you're going to see them. I think the third time this year. Is there the element of familiarity going into that? What's that going to be like and what are you expecting out of them tomorrow?

CAMERON SWARTZ: I think that we just said in the locker room, like we can break their defense and we can do -- we get all the open shots and we know them. That's like a big factor. It's like, we know them. We have played them. We know what to do, how to get open shots, where the looks are, and I think that just knowing their scout and just playing most importantly with our heart and as tough as we can, I think that's what will get us a Syracuse win.

Because like in the past against them, our last game we recently played them, I felt like we weren't in it all the way from the jump and we weren't talking on defense.

When we put all those factors like talking and hitting our shots and all the heart and playing hard, all those factors will just come and we'll get the win.
