PAC-12 CONFERENCE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

March 3, 2021

Evelien Lutje Schipholt

Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

California Golden Bears

Postgame Press Conference

Oregon State 71, California 63.

THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.

Q. You guys gave Oregon State a hard time today. It was a good, close game for most of the contest. You've had several close games over the season. What can you take from that going forward helping out with the younger players, maybe hang your hat on even though you had a very tough season?

EVELIEN LUTJE SCHIPHOLT: First of all, I think we made a huge change over the season compared to the way we started. We've grown so much. We've learned so much. We're still growing and learning.

I think it really shows in these games where you finally get to even have an opportunity to win it, keep it close, stay in the game the entire game.

I think this entire season, it built us, it made us. You're going to see a lot of what we're doing at the end of the season into next season.

Q. Evelien, can you talk about your resiliency in this game to keep fighting into the fourth quarter. You made a bit of a run to start the third, they pulled away. What allowed you to stay hungry, stay in this game?

EVELIEN LUTJE SCHIPHOLT: Well, I think Coach Charmin had a really good pregame speech. She talked to us about how this might be our last game, we need to make sure that we put all the pain, all the stuff we went through, all the adversity, all that emotion, put it in today and channel that energy and use it to come out today and give it all you got. I think that's what every single one of us did today. I'm really proud of it.

THE MODERATOR: Thank you so much.

EVELIEN LUTJE SCHIPHOLT: Thank you.
