WORKDAY CHARITY OPEN

July 10, 2020

Rickie Fowler

Dublin, Ohio

Q. Rickie, how would you assess your round today?

RICKIE FOWLER: Good, and then backed down a little bit, and then brought it home. Definitely got off to the start that I needed to. Kind of did the same thing yesterday, as well, got out of the gate, so got that part figured out. Just need to clean up a few other things in the middle part of the round. But I'm happy with it overall. Saturday tee time is nice, after how we came back from the three-month break. We'll just go have a week -- I feel like I'm in a good spot with the game. A lot of good things over the last two days, just a few mistakes that cost me quite a few shots.

Q. Are you starting to get a little bit of momentum? Like you said, two straight weeks of playing the weekend. Are you starting to feel a little momentum with your game?

RICKIE FOWLER: I am. I know it's been really close, but to start to get some putts to go in, start to drive it better, iron play continues to get better and better, yeah, it's all heading the right direction. With how tough things have been as far as how low cuts have been, not saying that we're playing easy or hard golf courses, but it's not just easy to go shoot under par at any of these courses that we've been playing. You've got to be on top of your game. It's still going to show mistakes. Some impressive golf is being played, and like I said, to just have a Saturday tee time -- last week I played okay over the weekend and got myself into a decent finish. I know I can play well here at this golf course, so see if we can go make a run.

Q. You've had good rounds here, had some solid finishes. Do you kind of go off some of those good feelings as you go into the weekend?

RICKIE FOWLER: Yeah, I've had -- I mean, at some point I've played every hole well out here. Unfortunately there's a few holes that have gotten me over the years. I think keep the strong starts going and just clean up that middle part of the round, and I think we can put up a few low ones -- I guess I just need a couple over the weekend, and put ourselves in a good spot for next week, as well.

Q. Did you find conditions to be tougher today?

RICKIE FOWLER: Yeah, wind is up a little bit, but the temperature is down. That was the biggest thing yesterday. I felt like I got pretty fatigued there at the end, so just trying to find a way to get it to the house. So today, yeah, temperature is down but the wind is up a little bit. I think it's supposed to continue through the afternoon. This golf course is very much a second or approach-shot golf course. There's five or six approach shots that can be pretty dicey. One that you think of, 12 out here can be pretty tight, just water short, bunkers dead long. There's a few of those out there. When you can get through those, you're pretty happy about it.
