NBA 2K LEAGUE DRAFT

February 22, 2020

Rafel "Crush" Davis

New York, New York

Q. Just to get started, can I get you to say and spell your name and gamer tag?
RAFEL "CRUSH" DAVIS: Yeah, my name is Rafel Davis, R-a-f-e-l -D-a-v-i-s, and my gamer tag is Crush.

Q. We had the chance to speak with you, obviously stepping into this moment, anticipating where you can go. Now it's official, you're part of the league. How does it feel?
RAFEL "CRUSH" DAVIS: It feels amazing, man, just grinding all these years and knowing all your hard work is paying off finally, it's a blessing.

Q. Immediately right off the bat, how do you feel once everything gets settled that you and your teammates will get comfortable with each other?
RAFEL "CRUSH" DAVIS: Yeah, I know most of the guys on the team already. I've spoken to them throughout this whole process, so getting that off-the-court chemistry, on-the-court chemistry is not going to take long.

Q. Have you had any communication with Kings Gaming and what have they said about you?
RAFEL "CRUSH" DAVIS: The most communication I had with Kings Guard and the organization was just straight from interviews. I had a second interview with them. They liked me as a person, they liked me as a player, so there was no doubt in my mind that they were going to pick me all through.

Q. What do you bring to the Kings?
RAFEL "CRUSH" DAVIS: You know, like I said before, being able to be a defensive anchor. They have three good players there currently, Yusuf, Shots and Seem. Adding me at the 3, that will just make everything much better. From 2 to 5, we have top players at every position, so all we need now is a point guard.

Q. Crush, you're a lock, selected third overall in a draft where everyone was talking about how deep the point guard pool was. What do you think that said about your own abilities?
RAFEL "CRUSH" DAVIS: I think that says I'm a game changer. My presence on the court, they feel it, and I just feel blessed to be in that opportunity. Yeah, so definitely me being on the card is definitely game changing, not only me just playing defense, but my communication, and just being a defensive and offensive anchor sometimes on the court.

Q. We had talked before on the red carpet. I asked where you were going to go, you said you had one preference. Were the Kings the preference?
RAFEL "CRUSH" DAVIS: Definitely.

Q. So they let you know before the draft that if you were there at three that they were going to take you?
RAFEL "CRUSH" DAVIS: Not necessarily. They told me, you know, they need a point guard, so it was either a point guard or me.

Q. When talking about just your skill development while playing this game, it starts typically from an individual standpoint and then alternately you have to learn what it's like to play with others. How extensive can that development be?
RAFEL "CRUSH" DAVIS: Very extensive. Over the last three years I feel like I've developed as a player greatly. I've matured as a person greatly, as well. Just definitely sticking to your grind, knowing your role on the team and executing as best you can.

Q. Staying to the grind, knowing who you are, do you consider that to be your own personal biggest keys?
RAFEL "CRUSH" DAVIS: Definitely. Just sticking to the script, playing my role, not doing too much, not doing too little, but doing the most I can as a person in a role on my team.

Q. What about people in the crowd? Do you have anybody here supporting you at the draft?
RAFEL "CRUSH" DAVIS: Oh, yeah, my mom is here, my dad is here, my grandmother is here, and a couple of my friends from different states, Boston, New Jersey, all came out to support me, so I definitely feel the support out there.

Q. What was going through your head when your name was called?
RAFEL "CRUSH" DAVIS: Man, I finally made it. These past years have been tough, not making it past the interview process the first season, season two not being in the combine. So season three was definitely a wake-up call for me. I put my all into it, 110 percent and just making it impossible for them not to pick me.

Q. So is it more of a feeling of satisfaction or relief?
RAFEL "CRUSH" DAVIS: Both, satisfaction knowing that I'm a top-3 pick, and relief just finally saying I made it.
