BRISBANE INTERNATIONAL PRESENTED BY SUNCORP

January 7, 2018

Elina Svitolina

Brisbane, Queensland, Australia

Q. You managed to do it in 65 minutes, which is pretty incredible. Were you surprised how little time it took you to clinch that crown?
ELINA SVITOLINA: Well, I was just trying to play well. To be, you know, ready for a fight and just see how it goes. And, in the end, you know, it was quite good match, I think I played really solid tennis even, you know, she was trying to find the ways.

But, you know, I'm very happy the way I handled the pressure.

Q. Did you have a good night? Did you celebrate much last night or what did you get up to?
ELINA SVITOLINA: Yeah, I was celebrating with my team. You know, it's always a tradition that we have a couple of drinks and just, yeah, just remember this week. It's a special week.

Q. And the Australian Open, it must give you good hope going to Melbourne that you might be able to edge your way into a final appearance perhaps at the Australian Open?
ELINA SVITOLINA: Well, I try to take one match at a time, try to really focus on what I have to do on the court.

You know, Grand Slam it's always very important to play well. You have lots of pressure. You know, it's different situation. And everyone is playing extremely well there, and it's very important to be really fresh and ready for the fight.

Q. And in terms of your form overall, you're in good form. Do you think that sets you up for what can be a really special year for you?
ELINA SVITOLINA: Yeah, of course. This is like a small step in the right direction. It's always tough to play the first tournament of the year because, you know, you don't have so many matches behind you.

And, yeah, that's why it's special, this title, because the first tournament of the year and I played great tennis. And that's, you know, what matters the most for me.

Q. Did you do anything different in that little offseason you had that has perhaps produced this win?
ELINA SVITOLINA: Just we had some small details, we changed small things. You know, in this level it's very important to find the things that can help your game.

Q. Do you have a tip for tonight? Kyrgios against Harrison?
ELINA SVITOLINA: Well, I don't know. I don't know. It's going to be tough match for Harrison because Nick is playing really great tennis.

Q. Do you stay around to watch or do you get ready? Will you head off today or what are your plans?
ELINA SVITOLINA: Yeah, I'm going to Melbourne today and to recover and be ready. And, you know, just couple more treatments, because it was a tough week for me.

Q. But you're feeling all good in your body? There's no niggles or anything?
ELINA SVITOLINA: No. I feel good.

Q. It's a long tour. We've seen a lot of people unavailable for the Oz Open on men's and women's. At the start of the year, is it a bit daunting looking forward and going, Oh, god, there's so many tournaments to come?
ELINA SVITOLINA: Yeah, of course. You know, our season is one of the longest in sports, and that's why you have to be consistent. You have to be ready to compete at your best.

And, yeah, it's very important. This is one of my goals, you know, to stay healthy and play consistent throughout the year.
