OLYMPIC GAMES RIO 2016: GOLF

August 19, 2016

Ariya Jutanugarn

Rio De Janeiro, Brazil

Q. Tell me about when it started hurting yesterday?
ARIYA JUTANUGARN: After the round. I mean, I feel a little bit tight in the round yesterday, but it's okay. It's not too like painful. After the round, I started feeling pain. I feel a little bit tight, like second round, like almost last three holes, but I finish okay. After that, I rest and I start to hit the ball after I play yesterday, and then I hurt, so I stop.
I went to putt and I can't bend like down, like a sharp pain just happened. And they have the physio Thai Doctor, they help me. Last night I feel no pain, because they tape everything. This morning, I start to hit the ball, start to feel pain.

Q. So it started tight yesterday and then you were okay last night‑‑
ARIYA JUTANUGARN: I think it hurts after practice and then I went to see the physio and doctor.

Q. So when you're warming down and hitting balls.
ARIYA JUTANUGARN: Yeah, and then I went back to village and they had doctor there.

Q. And withdrew after 13?
ARIYA JUTANUGARN: Yeah.

Q. Your caddie said you just couldn't hit your shots.
ARIYA JUTANUGARN: Yeah, because when it starts on the downswing.

Q. Disappointed obviously?
ARIYA JUTANUGARN: Yeah, very disappointed, because it's Olympics, and I tell my caddie, I want to finish like four days. I don't care how many over I'm going to be, but I'm thinking about my career.
