An Interview with:

Q. Second championship in the O'Reilly Auto Parts series. The first JRM driver to have multiple championships for the organization. Justin, a couple weeks ago you thought you were retiring after tonight. It was your family, as Mr. H comes in for a big hug, congratulating the two-time champ. A couple weeks ago you thought you were going to be done racing after tonight. It was your family, specifically your dad Mike, who said, I want you to keep racing. What does it mean to bring a second championship home for them?

JUSTIN ALLGAIER: Means more than you'll ever know. It's obviously not the finish we wanted tonight. Wanted to be in victory lane. But this team never quits. The effort, the time they put in. The pit crew, phenomenal job.

The first one was for me. The first one I really enjoyed. This one is for all these men and women standing back here. They have worked their tail off.

These two, my wife, my parents, everybody you mentioned, it means so much. Congrats to Kaden last night, obviously he did a great job. Congrats to all the guys in the Chase this year. It was super fun.

Really proud of our whole team. Everybody knows Brandt and our culture at Chevrolet. Andrew Overstreet, first championship as a crew chief. That's really cool for him. Just all of our partners. The Hendrick engine shop, chassis shop, Chevrolet, Tufco, Jarrett, Registix, Arby's, Hendrickcars.com. I know I'm forgetting some folks. Roto-Rooter, K1 Race Gear, Arai Helmets, Off Axis Paint. So many people that have stood behind me.

Tonight it was a battle. Idiot driver packed the fence down too many times. I told you before the race I wasn't going to do that, and I did it anyways.

This guy right here, Sierra, Rick, the whole Brandt family. Miss Evelyn, we FaceTimed earlier. She's watching. I told her I'd bring home a championship. Miss Evelyn, we're thinking about you, but we're going to celebrate with her.

Like I said, hats off to this whole team. Just so proud of everybody. It's understated. It's been pretty special tonight.

Q. Let's talk about using the wall at the end. At one point your team came on the radio and said we cannot afford to get in the wall.

JUSTIN ALLGAIER: Heart rate was pretty high right there, if I'm being honest with you. I knew that was the lane we needed to run. You never know what to expect.
