STANFORD UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL MEDIA CONFERENCE

October 24, 2026

Davis Warren

Stanford, California, USA

Postgame Media Conference

Stanford 31, NC State 28

Q. Davis, talk about what was the key to your offensive efficiency tonight.

DAVIS WARREN: Yeah, felt really good going in with a game plan that Coach Pritch and Lindgren and Heff kind of put together on offense.

I think it started with a great week of practice, especially from the receivers. They were flying around all week. Made me feel really good about the game plan.

Then just the execution up front especially. A lot of time to throw the ball. I feel like when I have time and our receivers have time to go get open, I can put the ball where it needs to be, we can be super explosive in the pass game. Just a lot of things coming together.

Then obviously complement that with a great run game, what Micah did. Just a total team effort. But nice to kind of punch first and get out running early in the game.

Q. The fast start, what kind of confidence does it give you when you're able to score quickly?

DAVIS WARREN: Yeah, it's huge. That's huge. That's something that in the games that we've won and played well on offense, we've done that. The games we haven't, we haven't got off to a good start.

I think that's just a credit to Coach Pritchard and Coach Heff and the whole offensive staff with that opening script, being super dialed in on that this week. They made it easy on me. Those guys were open. I was able to hit 'em. Wasn't anything special on my part. Just doing what I was told and what I was coached.

I think the whole group, not needing to do too much to press early, not get wide-eyed because it's a game and not practice anymore, just believe in what we've done every day since January is enough to be successful and just being secure in ourselves to just do what we're coached and be in position to be successful.

Big credit to those guys up front for kind of setting the tone. I think that was huge.

Q. Walk through some of the preparation that you and the offense have been doing this past week.

DAVIS WARREN: I think something we talked a lot about is know and know you know as an offense, as a team, in terms of the scheme, what we're doing.

Obviously understanding the opponent is really important. If you understand your own scheme and how you're doing things, how those things react and kind of work in relation to what they're doing, that's how you can be successful. I think we've done that.

The other thing we've done on offense, we come together on Thursdays after practice, for about 10 minutes, 15 minutes, each position group, a couple guys stand up and talk about some keys to the game for them.

I think reiterating those things, speaking them out loud, speaking them into existence, has helped us. It's something we're going to continue to do. I know we got even more growth. We left some points on the board, for sure.

Q. You had a really good connection with Caden early on. Something there that you thought you could exploit early?

DAVIS WARREN: I think with Caden, obviously his talent speaks for itself. Explosive receiver. Made some incredible catches. I didn't make it easy on him for all those. He did a great job. That was big.

I'm never in a position where I feel like I have to force the ball or anything like that. Just take what the defense gives me. If they give me Caden, I'm going to take it. If they give me Nico, JA, JO, Benjie, Micah, I'm going to do that. Sometimes it's a shot down the field, sometimes it a checkdown. That's something I've always continued to grow in.

The same kind of logic applies to the two-minute drive. It wasn't all shot plays down the field. We didn't have a ton of time. It was kind of chunks. Getting that first kind of big chunk was huge. Then a couple good third down conversions. We were kind of just rolling. It's something we work on every week. We take pride in it. It was good to see it pay off there at the end of the half. That was a really big score.

Q. What did it mean to have the student section so involved?

DAVIS WARREN: Like I said a couple weeks ago, we can't control, people want to call it the library, how many people show up, anything like that. Doesn't matter to us. What matters is defending our home turf.

We talk about as a team, like, they have to pay the price of admission to come in here to Stanford stadium and play us. I think we've done a pretty good job of defending our home turf. We take a lot of pride in that.

I think, like I said a couple weeks ago, that comes from this group of guys, like they care about this university. It means something for them to put on the Stanford uniform and rep that around campus, in class, and in Palo Alto. I think that's something that we take a lot of pride in. I don't think that's the case for everyone in college football.

We take it seriously. Now we're going to have to go on the road and bring our own juice. We'll be ready to go. Excited to see us do that.

Q. Sedrick Irvin, talk about the weapon he's becoming for you.

DAVIS WARREN: Yeah, he's been great. Obviously a threat. Him and Micah. I think Micah had, what, 58 yards receiving, three catches. Him and Sed, that puts a lot of stress on the defense. When you feel like you have a mismatch on a linebacker, that's a huge advantage for us.

I think Coach Pritch and Heff and Lindgren do a great job exploiting that. Sed has gone and made two great plays. Super proud of him.

I think it's just a credit to the work he puts in, he and Micah, all the running backs. Normally they're doing their own stuff in the off-season. Usually the receivers and tight ends come out and catch. But they were always quick to respond to the text to come out, get out on the field, get some catches in, work on that part of their game. They take it very seriously.

Just adding that element to the offense of being able to send five eligibles out in the pass game puts a lot of stress on the defense. We're going to continue to exploit those matchups if we get 'em.
