IMSA MEDIA CONFERENCE

October 2, 2026

PJ Hyett

Daytona, Florida, USA

Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: We are pleased by joined by our Motul pole award winner in the LMP2 class, PJ Hyett in the No.99 AO Racing in the ORECA LMP2 07. Best lap was 1:12.944 seconds. This is his eighth career pole in IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship competition, first since Road America 2025.

With that qualifying performance, unofficially has now closed to within 105 points to the leaders in the WeatherTech championship standings.

PJ, congratulations on the pole. Obviously first one of the year, but tell us how important that session was for you and the team and how it sets you up for tomorrow, and as I mentioned, still in the ballpark championship-wise with some help.

PJ HYETT: Yeah, better late than never. I don't particularly like that stat, the last pole was Road America in 2025.

I couldn't be happier with the team's effort this weekend to give me a car to put Rocky on pole this weekend. I've never gotten pole here before. I absolutely love this racetrack, and yeah, I'm absolutely thrilled.

We came into this weekend with a very clear set of objectives, put it on pole, win the race, and hope something happens to the 43 and 04 because that's pretty much all we can do for the championship. But we are tight with the IMEC Championship as well. That we have more control over.

Step 1 was to put it on pole, and I did that, and very pleased.
