Q. Micah, how good does it feel to get three touchdowns, very close to 100 yards on the opening day of the season?

MICAH FORD: It feels good, man. Just kind of set the standard for my season. At the end of the day, there's definitely stuff I could have done better out there on that field, but I'm just happy my team was able to walk out of there with the W.

Q. You joined Bryce Love as the first running back to rush for 99 yards and three touchdowns since he did it in 2017. What does it mean to kind of do something that a running back like Bryce Love also did?

MICAH FORD: It means a lot. Obviously Bryce was a great running back here. Heisman runner-up, things of that sort. Just being honored to be in a conversation with him, but at the end of the day, like I said before, definitely some things that I got to do better as a player to help my team just put it away in the fourth quarter.

Q. Obviously the fourth quarter hadn't gone well until you got the ball back. What was the mindset as an offense coming back on the field?

MICAH FORD: Just finish. At the end of the day, that's all it was. Just finishing. We always harp on that. That's one of our standards and just trust the process and trust all the situations that we practice during fall camp and stuff like that and lean on the brother next to you, because at the end of the day, we're the only ones out on that field. We're the only ones out there on that field. The coaches can only do so much. We have to lean on each other and kind of feed off each other's energy.

Q. What was Davis like in the huddle on that drive?

MICAH FORD: Davis is such a great guy. Obviously you guys saw. No turnovers, over 300 yards I think it was. Yeah, over 300 yards. I'm just happy that we have a quarterback that's able to lead us through that and stay poised in that type of situation, because it's definitely not easy.

Q. Micah, 99 yards. One yard shy of 100. I see your face. You're thinking about it already. Just tell me, what are your thoughts about just kind of being one yard short, and I'll follow up on what Coach said after that, but I wanted to know your thoughts.

MICAH FORD: That's why I got to go back to the drawing board. There's definitely some runs where I missed some reads just trying to put the game away. I just had to trust my technique and the work I put in during the offseason, but we'll get it eventually. We'll get it eventually, sure.

Q. Earlier Coach said that he's hoping that one yard shy will motivate you for next game. What's your thoughts on that?

MICAH FORD: 100%. Obviously we got Miami coming to our field to play us, and they're a great opponent. National Championship runner-ups last year. We got to bring it, man, and that includes me.

I'm obviously one of the leaders on this team, so I got to bring it every down and just, yeah, bring it at the end of the day.

Q. What is having to come back in the fourth quarter in a game that it looked like you guys might run away it, but what does having to battle through that adversity going forward?

MICAH FORD: It sets the standard for us. We got it in us, and now we know what our floor and what our ceiling are. We just have to continue to push through. When we're in those situations, and now we know what to expect. We expect to put it away in the fourth quarter.

Q. Chris Davis, your fellow running back, brought the return game. He was returning on the go-ahead drive.

MICAH FORD: Yeah, just great to see, man. Just to see Chris put us in that position, be able to punch it in in the fourth quarter. People might overlook that, you know, but that's such a pivotal point in the game. Without that run, who knows what would have happened. You know what I'm saying?

Props to Chris. He's a great player. I'm excited to see what he does throughout the year.

Q. Besides it being a big game next Friday, E-40 Bay Area native, will be performing at halftime. Will you be disappointed that you'll be in the locker room while he's doing that?

MICAH FORD: I mean, a little bittersweet I guess you could say, because honestly we got a game to play, so I can't really be too focused on that.

But, yeah, E-40 is a Bay Area legend out here. I'm not really from out here, so I'm new to all this, but I'm sure it's going to be a good performance for the crowd and stuff like that.

Q. Your Coach gets your first win. You guys get the first win for your coach. What's the energy like in the locker room, and how are you guys talking about following that up against Miami?

MICAH FORD: Just continue to build. Come in tomorrow to the building ready to take the criticism and correct the things that we need to correct because it definitely wasn't pretty, as you guys seen.

We got to learn to put the game away instead of making it hard for us, and we'll figure out a way to get that fixed for sure for next week because we definitely are going to need it, definitely.
