NASCAR MEDIA CONFERENCE

June 14, 2026

William Byron

Pit Lane Interview

Q. William Byron, do you feel like the gains you found today outweighed maybe where you were still missing a little?

WILLIAM BYRON: Yeah, I think this is probably the first time in four months that I've been able to drive the car this way, just to be able to make moves and have the balance stay with me.

Yeah, just really appreciate everybody on our race team. The 24 group has been working really hard. Appreciate everyone back at Hendrick Motorsports, trusting our tools, the things we can use.

Yeah, just felt confident throughout the weekend. Felt from lap one on track I could push pretty hard. The strategy makes it tough where you have to restart towards the back. Thought we could manipulate and work through traffic. That was awesome.

Q. How important was today going into San Diego, unknowns?

WILLIAM BYRON: A lot of unknowns. I'm kind of excited for it. We've been in kind of the muck of the Cup Series for a while. Just kind of grinding. I feel like we're conditioned well for a new change.

We'll go next week and try to have a good run. Just good to get this strong on the ovals. I feel like this is, yeah, kind of back to what we're used to. This is great.
