STANFORD UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL MEDIA CONFERENCE

October 18, 2025

Jay Green

Stanford, California, USA

Postgame Media Conference

Stanford 20, Florida State 13

THE MODERATOR: Questions for Jay.

Q. Jay, walk us through the very final drive, the last play, what was the key?

JAY GREEN: Yeah, I mean, our coaches have been giving us all week about bending, not breaking. We had some plays leading up to that drive we weren't fond of. We knew we had the time on our side. The clock didn't have any time on it. The offense drained them.

Our goal was to keep them out. We trusted our big boys up front. I am looking at it from a distance. I knew it was good. We won.

Q. What has that whole week been like with legends coming back, homecoming, then this tantalizing game?

JAY GREEN: I mean, as a team, I feel like we were very focused going into this week. I feel like this one of our best weeks of practice we've had in a while here.

Honestly, we knew everything that came with the game. You know what I mean? As far as it being like a legacy game, homecoming, everything of that sort.

We were just focused on doing our 1/11, everybody on the field, coming out victorious at home.

Q. Florida State came with a pretty high-powered offense. What was the key to holding them to 13 points? You got Miami next week.

JAY GREEN: I mean, they had a pretty good run game. I'm looking at it, one of their guys had, what, 20 rushes. Another one had 14. Their run offense is pretty good. I think the key to that was stopping the big plays in the run, making Tommy make plays in the air with his arm.

We trusted our front, so we held it up in the back end. We knew that was the plan going in, just stop the run, kind of figure everything out from there.

Q. What was the key to your defense after Collin Wright went out to maintain the same level of success?

JAY GREEN: Right, I mean, our coach today in the meeting talked about being together and brotherhood. I was standing over Collin, I asked him if he was good, things like that. It's kind of hard for me because that's been my brother closely. Honestly, I didn't want to see him go down as I love playing with him.

It was for the best of the team or whatever the situation may be. I think we just bonded together and just kind of thought about finishing, you know what I mean? We had them where they at. We knew if we got a stop late in the game, we could have a good chance of winning that game. So I'm grateful for that, the outcome.

Q. Undefeated here. How much pride do you have in that?

JAY GREEN: It's great. At the end of the day we're (indiscernible), we're entertainers. We find pride entertaining the local fans and stuff like that.

I feel like the ACC right now is wide on. It is what it is. We just got to go every week and go 1-0. I mean, it's great winning at home, of course.

Q. Talk about what you continue to get from Scotty Edwards.

JAY GREEN: Scotty is a dog. He puts his life on the line pretty much every play. He just does a lot for our team. He could play the boundary. He comes in in dime personnel, things like that. We have so much faith in Scotty, everything he can do for us as far as running the ball, the pass game as well. We're grateful for him. He's really good.
