UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT SAN ANTONIO FOOTBALL MEDIA CONFERENCE
November 29, 2025
San Antonio, Texas, USA
Press Conference
Army 27, UTSA 24.
Q. ...defensive play overall today what stood out to you?
JIMMY WYRICK: Got to get stops, especially at the end of the game. But we got get stops.
Q. They converted, especially on that last drive, a couple of critical fourth downs. Just what is the reaction like when you're able to force them into those situations but they're able to stay on the field?
JIMMY WYRICK: Just looking back it was just heartbreak, because we had multiple opportunities to stop them but couldn't get the job done.
But proud of all my guys tonight. Proud of the seniors, proud of the offense. Just tough.
Q. They hit the one explosive play in the first half, 81-yard run. What did he see on that play or what went wrong on that play for you guys?
JIMMY WYRICK: Good play call by them. They got a tackle out, they pulled a tackle out when we crashed, so had a guy for a guy. Then an extra guy for one of us, so good call for them. Just got get the ball down. But good call.
Q. What happened after the game? What did you see on the field? Was that just an emotional game between two players?
JIMMY WYRICK: Just emotions. Mad, upset that we lost. But we got to do better in controlling our emotions. I don't know what all happened. I just heard about it in the locker room.
So, yeah, just got to control our emotions.
Q. Jimmy, when you look back at this regular season, how do you think you'll feel about the 2025 regular season?
JIMMY WYRICK: It's tough. We were a better team on paper but didn't prove it at all times. The guys we had was a close to a brotherhood, close to a family you could ask for.
The record doesn't show it, but we feel like we're a lot better of a team than we played and we put on paper.
So it's tough.
Q. In game against Army, did they do anything new or different than anything you guys were expecting?
JIMMY WYRICK: I mean, they had a few wrinkles in their offense. Like every team does, you game plan for the next team, so they had a couple new plays, but it wasn't anything that was game breaking. Just got make plays when the opportunity moments. Proud of everybody.
Q. We had talked about the win streak the team had in the Alamodome against conference opponents. What's are the emotions and the reaction like to having that streak come to the an end?
JIMMY WYRICK: It sucks. It sucks. Proud to play with all the guys, all the guys Kendrick Blackshire, Shad Banks, John Jones, Tyan Milton, all seniors and good to be on the field at the Dome with them, so proud of everybody.
But, yeah.
Q. It had been a little bit of time since you guys had played a game that was this tight down the stretch. How do you feel like you guys reacted and responded to that moment?
JIMMY WYRICK: Just proud of everybody. I can't even say. Just got to make plays when we got to make plays. Got to get stops. Overall I'm proud of everybody. Just like I said, offense, they scored. They gave us a chance to win. So I'm just proud of offense, and, shoot.
Q. When you close the year with a result like this, does that change anything about the next month?
JIMMY WYRICK: I think we got to go back and watch the film. It's never as bad as you feel like it is and never as good.
We'll we go back and watch the film and see, but I think this team we'll be fine. We'll go into the bowl game happy and enjoying the moment with each other. The bowl game will be our literal last game of the year, so just grateful to have a bowl game and excited.
