Q. Owen how do you describe what the atmosphere and the mood is like in the locker room coming off a game like that?
OWEN McCOWN: Yeah, sucks. Nobody likes losing, especially this big rivalry game. But somehow got to watch the firm and turn around and learn from it and grown and get ready for UIW next week.
Q. What did you see from your offense in particular? Had some stretches where you got it going but then down the stretch there were a couple tough drives to close it out.
OWEN McCOWN: Yeah, I think looking back at it I wish I came out a little faster. Finally got it going, run game, finally towards the end like you said. And then the final drive just got to execute as an offense. That was something we are work on practice. Every time we practice situational football. Just got to look back at the film and see how we could have expect it better.
Q. You guys were aggressive on fourth down in the game. Do you know come into this game it might be a shootout?
OWEN McCOWN: Yeah. Once again, it's something we do in practice a lot. Knowing on those third and longs we have two downs to get it. So Coach did a great job informing me that was the case.
Like you said, just some of the fourth downs we couldn't get and hurt us in the end.
Q. When you watch the film, what do you think you'll see from some of your accuracy today?
OWEN McCOWN: Yeah, like you said, I got to look back at the film. Some of those deep balls, it's one of two things. Probably me; other times outside release on some of those go balls and got to look at a certain yardage. Some of the ones over the middle, same deal. I can remember one to Devin McCuin over the middle on a fourth down and wanted to keep a little thinner, so just miscommunication right there.
Something that can't happen on fourth down, and ultimately that's on me.
Q. Last week you mentioned not being able to get into rhythm. Was that like that today, too?
OWEN McCOWN: No, I thought so. I thought as an offense we didn't get much of a rhythm early on, but finally did as the game went on. Ultimately I think what Hurts us the most is that final drive, knowing we work on that all the time in practice and we just didn't execute.
Q. For you as a leader, what do you have to do now to keep the team up after an 0-2 start?
OWEN McCOWN: Yeah, we have to I think have a quick mindset with -- we have to watch the film, learn, and move on. That's all you can do. We have a long season ahead. Conference play hasn't started yet. So we can still rally. Season is not over. We have, like I said, all those conference games to play. As a leader, we got to rally the troops and learn from it and move on.
Q. How does the rivalry factor add to the emotions of the outcome and what the guys are feeling right now?
OWEN McCOWN: Yeah, rivalry, any game, as a competitor that you lose is going to sting. Yeah, like I said we have to learn from it and move on.
