CHICAGO FIRE MEDIA CONFERENCE

July 19, 2025

Jack Elliott

Chicago, Illinois, USA

Press Conference

Chicago Fire FC 2, Montréal 0

Q. Jack, your first goal for the Chicago Fire, feels like a long time coming. What were your I motions when that went into the net?

JACK ELLIOTT: Super excited. Obviously a big relief. It had been awhile of knocking on the door and eventually it goes in, so yeah, just really excited, and at a time when the game it was what we needed. So it had that extra layer as well.

Q. Making that run, you didn't have to jump. What did you see in that sequence?

JACK ELLIOTT: Yeah, just try and get something on it. That was the game plan there. I think there wasn't anyone in the front post. Yeah, you basically get something on it.

Q. Another road win and you're now the best road team in the entire of MLS right now. How does that feel to get another win up here in Montréal?

JACK ELLIOTT: It's obviously great. I think it shows a resilience of this team to be able to play away from home and be successful and really dig in and fight in hard times, and showed that again today with a great performance. You know, coming off two weeks of nonstop play, and a lot of people playing a lot of minutes and a lot of people coming in tonight and being huge that haven't played so much over the past two weeks. So you know, can just shows that there's more depth and togetherness right now.

Q. How important is it for the team to be clinical on corner kicks and set pieces?

JACK ELLIOTT: Obviously that's a huge part of soccer. It's something that we've been working on all season, and I'm not sure of the efficiency of our team but I feel like we have a good game plan and will have more success as the season continues.

Q. First clean sheet for you guys in an away game this year, how good does it feel to finally get that?

JACK ELLIOTT: Yeah, it's another huge thing to take tonight, to show that clear. Over the last few weeks we haven't necessarily given up a lot of chances. Just been caught at the wrong times and given up some goals in the wrong moments. I think it shows tonight the strength and resilience in not really conceding too many big chances against.

So it's great to get a clean sheet and a win. As a defender, that's all you look for, you take 1-0 over 4-3 any day.

Q. After the last against Atlanta, how nice to get those defensive subs late and getting through those final ten, 15 minutes with the clean sheet intact?

JACK ELLIOTT: Yeah, it's great. All the guys came on and knew exactly what they had to do and did it to a T.

Q. You know, you are leading the team in minutes but because of injuries and other factors, it's been a rotating cast next to you. Obviously not what anyone wanted to see, Rogers have to leave the game, but what does it say about the team getting its first win with a clean sheet in a game where Omar had to come in off the bench kind of unexpected?

JACK ELLIOTT: Yeah, it changes things in a game-- (inaudible) -- Maren has been around and knows exactly what he has to do, played a great game, I thought, and key plays and that was excellent. He came on and we didn't really miss a beat.
