INDIANA UNIVERSITY BASKETBALL MEDIA CONFERENCE

February 21, 2024

Trey Galloway

Mackenzie Mgbako

Bloomington, Indiana, USA

Postgame Media Conference

Nebraska 85, Indiana 70

Q. For either of you, just the first half obviously things got away from you guys quickly. Coach Woodson said everything got away from you guys. What do you think happened there in the first 20 minutes that contributed to the flat effort?

TREY GALLOWAY: They just -- we weren't up to touch on a lot of things they were doing. They were comfortable and made a lot of shots, and it affected us and they got that lead.

Q. Trey, you've been in this building a lot since you were a little kid. How difficult personally does that feel at halftime hearing the boos from fans down 20?

TREY GALLOWAY: I mean, it's part it. I can't worry about that. I got worry about helping my team, and we got to be focused on each other and can't worry about the outside noise. Just be a unit and stick together.

Q. Mackenzie, you had 22 tonight. Been in double figures most games recently. What are things that you have been starting to put together at this point the is not?

MACKENZIE MGBAKO: Just playing more through the offense and taking what the defense gives me and being aggressive so I can help out the team.

Q. Anything in particular that's working?

MACKENZIE MGBAKO: I think driving the basketball and then creating and driving and getting to the cup.

Q. Trey, when things aren't going well, how do you approach this as a leader away from the games, off the floor? Do you have a player-only meeting? What are you searching for to get on track?

TREY GALLOWAY: Like I said, we got to really stick together. We're right there and we show spurts where we can be really good. Like I said, just stick together.

Q. Trey, we've asked a lot about three point shooting, free throw shooting. You talked about it as a confidence thing as much as maybe a mechanics things. In the moment are there things you can do to pick each other up when the shots aren't falling? In the moment in timeouts in games are there ways you can keep each other confident I guess?

TREY GALLOWAY: Yeah, I think just going up to the line or when we get the chance to make the shots we got to make them. It's us just talking to each other and giving each other confidence and pulling each other up.

Q. Trey, tonight it's only a 7-man rotation. Multiple guys that have seen good playing time earlier in the season not play in this game. What's the message to those players that just have fallen out of the rotation?

TREY GALLOWAY: Stay ready because there is -- we got five games left, so going to need those guys. Just got stick together.
